they would all work with each other, however it seems slightly strange to spend £200 on a motherboard and pair it with an i5, also having 2 dimm slots could be limiting in the future

Not sure how it can be limiting when you can buy 2x16GB RAM for 32GB there is very little that you could need more than 32GB with.

They all match up just fine. Motherboard seems overkill though. You can get a decent Asus or MSI Z170 Micro ATX motherboard for half that price. Is there a specific feature on the Asrock board you need that the others don't have?

Also, don't forget you'll need a cooler with the 6600k as it doesn't come supplied with one.

Agreed does seem strange getting that board with i5. I never really understood them boards my self as far as can tell the £130 boards do everything.

IMO Better option would be cheaper board and 1070 or cheaper board and i7 or cheaper board and save £100

Yeah I'd probably opt for a cheaper board and a 6700k.

The 1060 is plenty for 1080p gaming for now, but it seems like the time of 4 core with no hyperthreading is coming to an end. The 6700k is starting to show big gains over the 6600k in more scenarios.

Hyper threading can only offer about 10-15% from what I've seen. I think the problem for quad cores is clock speed will always be beaten by physical core count unless you have a massive disparity between performance per clock to the point one core is always near it's maximum performance.
