My Nov 2004 Build AMD64 Athlon died nothing. So thought strange do I bother and just cover the time till a new rig with the new ipad. Amazed that on a 2004 build I could still get a brand new PSU power pack that matched every cable for £25.

Twenty minutes later it was back to life and typing on it just now:D. If I get anther year out it that great. Wanting to wait as long as possible before getting back into games and maybe VR.

My HTPC is using an Opteron 180 clocked to 2.8ghz. It's also a last resort machine for games if I have folk round and ps4,ps3 and other pcs are in use ;)

Some reason I just cant let it go. Clocks to 2.8ghz (12x233 CL2.5) or 11x255 CL3)on stock volts of 1.350 with C&Q enabled and stays under 60 deg when stress testing in a cramped ML03 case and CP7000 Zalman cooler. Can do 2.9 just about with 1.425 but my cooler becomes a problem and a core will eventually drop after an hour of prime95 or a playing a game (likely due to heat from gfx card)

Speaking of which a low profile R7 250 is in use. I would like to replace with something better just ...coz ;) Not that is that great for games and struggles even with TF2 which used to run great with an X800XTPE card in this systems prime time.

System is stuck with Win7 64bit though to make use of 4gb of ram as win8.1/Win10 doesn't support the cpu. Would have liked to try DX12. Secret to keeping the system usable is the SSD (just a cheapo 60gb drive) I think which keeps the system so much more responsive than it ever was on a mechanical drive. The ram used is 4gb of Corsair 3500LL PRO

i7 930 on an X58 platform in use as my file server and running 2 virtuals - my firewall and web filter and an AD substitute (Zentyal). Works great - my old Q6600 platform got replaced with this when I upgraded to Haswell - the Q6600 is in my bits box but I no longer have an LGA 775 MB to put it in :)

Q6600 o/c to 3.4ghz that runs in my media server

I only retired my G0 stepping Q6600 about a year ago, it worked brilliantly I was just bored of it and wanted to build a new PC!

I think I made about £50 for the chip and heatsink, for the years service it did (purchased November 07) it wasn't a bad investment.

Q6600 g0, purchased from here on the week of release. The thing was absolutely monstrous for the time (3.6ghz on air) and still, to this day, runs fine at 3.4ghz (No real point in pushing her to 3.6 still)
