Skylake or X99 for a gaming build

Hello I currently have a x99 build for gaming and a very old secondary pc that is 6 years old. So I am aiming to buy a new system to replace the secondary pc, and use the current one as the secondary.

I have approx 2k to spend on a pc, but I am undecided between another X99 and a skylake based system. I aim to get a M2 drive and nvidia gtx 980ti and 16gb ram (I have read that 32 is pointless).

I mainly game on the PC (Diablo 3, Everquest etc etc), but do a bit programming on it too. I don't do any graphics rendering or anything like that.

Any suggestions on which platform to go with?

5930k then would be much better skylake is epic if you want a i5 though which is all you really need for high end gaming. But the 5930k will be good if you capture gameplay aswell as you have the extra cores.
