Hi guys,

I have a P55 setup which is running with an i5 750 @ 3.8GHz.

I have recently obtained an i7 870 which i'm going to swap in. I'm also running the original v1.0 BIOS on my msi p55 gd65 and this might be a good time to update.

My question is what is the best order to do this in?

1. Retun to stock with a CMOS reset
2. Update BIOS
3. Replace chip
4. Overclock!

Will my current windows installation be fine after all of this or will I need to back everything up and start again?

Thanks!

Dave.

yeah its win 7.

It's mflash that my bios seems to have. I note that 6 of the bios updates for my board have "Update M-Flash module" in the release notes. Would this indicate that the original implementation was iffy?

Is flashing the bios less of a danger than it used to be?
