Kingston RMA replacement

Hi all

I bought a Kingston 32GB kit KHX16LC9K4/32X that runs at 9-9-9 @ 1.35V. It was the low voltage that really attracted me as it meant I would save a little power. 2 of the modules are now faulty and Kingston have agreed an RMA, the problem is that they do no produce this kit any more and they have offered me 4 * HX316C10F/8 instead. This memory seems to run slower and at a higher voltage so does not seem as good to me. What do you suggest I do? Is there a better option that I could go back to them with?

Thanks

What's the actual RAM speeds of the old stuff and the replacement stuff? Think I found the stuff you're talking about, but I'm not sure.

What system are you running? The power savings you'll make with DDR3L are minute, so I wouldn't worry about putting in a standard 1.5V kit.

The timings I am getting at the moment are from the XMP profile and are
Frequency 800 MHz
Cas# Latency 9.0
RAS# to CAS# 9
RAS# Precharge 9
tRAS 27
tRC 36
Voltage 1.350 V
(this is read from CPU-Z)
What they are offering has the timings
PnP JEDEC TIMING PARAMETERS:
• DDR3-1600 CL10-10-10 @1.5V
• DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9 @1.5V
• DDR3-1066 CL7-7-7 @1.5V
(from the PDF https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/HX316C10F_8.pdf)

I am running an I5 [email protected] in an Asus P8Z68-V

I've just realised as well that they are offering me 4 of the 8GB packs, not a single 32GB pack, so this will mean they have not been tested to all work together, is this correct?

What you originally bought was a quad-channel kit, so it was 4 matched sticks. Quad channel kits of HyperX Fury or Genesis DDR3 are no longer available,

Ideally I would want either two dual-channel kits, or a quad-channel kit as the RAM is binned together. However, 4 single sticks should work in 99% of cases.

See if they're able to supply two dual-channel kits as they do have them on their website:

HyperX Fury 16GB (8x2) 1600MHz
http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX316C10FK2_16.pdf

HyperX Fury Low Voltage 16GB (8x2) 1600MHz
http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX316LC10FBK2_16.pdf

HyperX Savage 32GB (8x4) 1600MHz
http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX316C9SRK4_32.pdf

The Savage is a quad-channel kit and has the same timings as what you've already got. It may however be from a more expensive product line. At the end of the day, ask politely and see what happens. If they say no, then fair enough.
