1080 overclock not netting any fps gains?

I am using an inno3d 1080 x2.

At base clocks 1607 I get 60 fps using kombuster lakes of Titan x64 1440 8x msa settings.

I can add a hefty 250mhz to that clock and the boost shows in monitoring software that it's hitting as high as 2110mhz yet the fps remains the same at 60. I am using precision evga.

Is the CPU limited perhaps? I7 4790k at 4.8. 16gb ram

My settings in evga were power limit 120% plus the offset, nothing on memory

Could it be v-sync / G-Sync / fps cap in place or something? Sound like it if it's hitting 60fps to likely match your panels refresh rate?

Could be I do have it enabled in some games but not in kombuster. In fact I ran the x32 test and got 251fps so can't be?

Ok so downloaded Heaven and stock clocks gave me 109fps and a 2113 oc (plus 500 on memory) gave me 120fps so working as it should. I can probably go higher on my clocks but given I have no need I'll stick at base until an oc is required.

spend all that money and worried about making it faster already lol

Ha, just having a play really and wanted to see how far it would go before I leave it at stock. Seems to be happy on 2.1 same as every other 1080.

That said people are getting 123-124 fps with the same system spec as me in Heaven. I don't want to split hairs over a few fps though, could be my CPU. I'll try the 1440 bench.

If it allows you slightly higher settings leave the overclock on :) if you already have everything maxed in games then yeah just bang it back to stock. I guess with cards that powerful your maxing all teh settings anyway unless you go 4k+

Yeah I have a 1440p monitor which I've overclocked to 75hz. Don't currently have a game that will trouble the 1080 at ultra settings and 75fps.
