New SSD Install 850 Evo - how should I optimize?

I seem to have found a lot of contradictory information on how to optimize my drive.

Should I install the Samsung Magician Software?

What should I disable?

Does windows 10 really optimize it automatically?

Any sort of info would be very much appreciated.

That guide is mostly crap, you can check that the SSD is being detected correctly but I personally wouldn't bother disabling anything else (other than hibernation) and I definitely wouldn't move the pagefile off of the SSD.

About to buy an 850 SSD and wasn't aware of any of this so following with interest.

Yes, I'm wondering if there is any benefit to install it at all? Or just let windows do the legwork

Yes. Check for a firmware update. That's it.

This. And then afterwards I uninstall it. Windows already does a good job optimising the SSD.

I have Samsung Magician but only for RAPID mode which caches some of your more used stuff in memory which is nice. Other than that, I don't change anything.

SM will also tell you if your port is set up with the correct controller and lets you allocate some space for over provisioning.

There is an error at present by which it states AHCI is not enabled, very much annoying, but had been started in other threads here. I think personally I'll just install it for the firmware updates than anything else. Good advice guys.
