The laptop I am using has a pair of external speakers attached.
It seems the sound has now suddenly gone very low (baby's sleeping noise level).
I have checked the laptop volume keys and made sure it is at the top.
I have checked the ubuntu volume applet is at the top.
This started happening after a patch and reboot at which time it said it could not start the volume control applet. I have manually re-added it to the top bar.
The sound preferences panel has all out sound as autodetect and the mixer as Intel HDA.
Any pointers very welcome or I am going to have to go back to headphones, great big speaker sized ones strapped to my head.
Thanks
RB
