Hi guys,

I had my new hardware arrive today, provided by OcUK.

1) 2gig G.Skill PC4000
2) San Diego 3700

What I want to know is if the CPU has good stepping, the stepping is...

KAB2E0549BPBW

Any one know is that is good, bad or medium?

Thanks all,

Kab2e are prety good steppings. Have been hitting 3ghz on water coolers with those at 1.6v. Seen some amazingly good results for San Diego stepping KAB3E, on xtreme a guy has one at 3.3ghz on water cooling. Awesome chips and they are on special offer at OCuk as well this week!

Ive got a CABGE, or Cabbage as i like to call it. At the moment im on 2.8 @ 1.65v. I tried getting it past 2.9 but it took 1.75 and it was hardly stable at all! lol!

Good luck with yours though, what type of cooling have you got? :)

I think agent wd40 should get his up to around 2.8ghz with reasonable cooling, the higher multi will really help with and these use pretty decent silicon.

Hunders when did you get yours?

Morning Lads,

I've got a ThermalTake Silent tower and it keeps it nice and cool.

I got bored last night and bumped it up to 2.75 (250*11) on stock volts :D and its running nicely. I was playing BF2 last night on 2.6ghz and it was faster at loading, not massively but enough.

Anyways, I've left Prime95 running and when I get home after work I will see the results.

I dont think 3ghz is out of the question with good enough water cooling.

So, the KAB2E is damned good stepping.

I'll keep you posted as to how well it runs.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update. I got the thing stable at 2.75ghz, just had to up the voltages ever so slightly...

So far I am impressed with this CPU and its stepping. If you can find one like this, i'd say get it...

I think that 3700 will hit about 2900mhz with a little extra voltage and decent cooling. The temps look pretty good, 43C for fully loaded with Prime95 running is excellent. Those Kab2e are looking very good chips.

I agree. The 43 load is still on air.

I think to get it upto 2.9ghz (275*10.5) I'll sling in my old RAM (its stable at 2.5-4-4-10 1T @ 300 mhz :D ). Just to make sure that its not the RAM that is holding her back.

I might do that tonight if I can't face the 2 hour drive to see my gf...

Just slap a big divider on the memory e.g run it at 166mhz that should drop the ram to about 200mhz, A64 memory bandwidth isn't really hit hard by not running at a 1:1 ratio.
That cpu looks very sweet.

Mmm, problem is, I'm using a A8N-premium and I can't figure out how to set a divider in the memory sections.

So just sling in my PC4800 OCZ platinum stuff and that wont cause an issue, I hope...

None the less, i'll let you guy knows.

Nice results.

The 3700 SD is only a little more than the 146 Opterons now and have a 11Multi. Ill be getting one of these before an opty for my other rig.
