Hey guys

just had someone ask to spec them a gaming PC for £750. I figured seeing as you guys love these threads so much, you'd be more than happy to help me choose for him

Its just the base unit, no monitor or anything

Many thanks

I will complete my new build soon and it is almost identical to the Dual-core build here.
Except I will use my opty 165 and an XT instead of XL.

Both of the above are great gaming specs TBH! They will play all games nicely at high resolutions.

Looks like a rock solid spec. But that £50 can make a pretty big difference. For example, you can now get the X2 3800+ or maybe even the PowerColor X1800XT 512MB which would be more useful for higher resolutions.

So your spec looks just fine, but you can upgrade something with that £50 if you wish to do so.

Setup is really simple, no different to the way is has always been. Here's a simple guide

The above link is a guide on how to assemble a regular A64 pc. Scroll down and click on the next page to go through the guide. It really is not difficult at all. It's just a matter of having patience and not being afraid of seeing so many wires.

it all looks simple enough untill it gets to setting the bios with the voltages n stuff:(

You won't need to do that. It's only if you're overclocking that you go into the BIOS and mess about with voltages and the like. Usually the BIOS automatically configures everything for you, so you have nothing to fear.

Yup, it's very simple. There's a tiny little "jumper" on the motherboard which will clear the settings when you put it into the reset position. That will reset everything back to default. Alternatively, just pull out the motherboard battery (you'll spot it instantly, looks like a watch battery) and that will have the same effect.

The tools not supplyed i guess so how much are they to buy and can i buy from oCuK?

What tools? A phillips screwdriver and maybe a torch is all that you need.

If you want to do a good job, you'll want a few cable ties too.
