Welcome to the team!!!

If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

Dunc has taken week 2 of the Xeon slug out, helped by the fact that Billy's skip-harvested HDD went a bit wayward. Hope you get it sorted soon Billy - you can't let dunc have it as easy for the next couple of weeks. We want to see smoke coming off that thing - in a good way of course!
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now :)

Anyone else notice the spiffy new comma delimiters in the output numbers?
hehe - thanks for noticing :)

today is the first time in ages that I've actually looked at what I'm doing rather than just churning it out - hence why it took me a good hour today :p
(don't worry - I didn't sit there adding all the commas manually - it was more contemplation time than actual work time)
keep your eyes peeled for a few other additions in the coming weeks ;)

I'm making a steady push for the first page on the EOC stats page! Woot!:p

Week's down a bit prodcution-wise but I'm sure that will pick up when the decent WUs return. I've been stuck with 41 and 48 pointers :(

Thanks for your work, Rich!

I'm mightily tempted to do some more borging. I have two potential rigs... a Smeleron 2.4 and my Pentium M 1.7. However being a laptop that I use daily at school, I have to take extra care with power management - so not only disabling crunching on battery, but also disabling crunching when on AC at any time during the school day - this way it charges faster - and I really do have to make the most of AC when it's available else I risk running out of powah mid-lesson!

..If there was a way around that I'd have no hesitation in borging it.

Also, thanks to Rich for the stats :D

Other problem with Folding at school is that it could annoy people if they're trying to work and the fans are going flat out on your laptop!

Hi all,

Started up folding for the team as of now :D

Got a P4 2.2a folding atm and will try and add more as time goes on. Building a new rig soon, hopefully dual core so I can get more clients added.

Every little helps :D

Regards,

Ben

Welcome to the warm foldy embrace of Team 10, Bennah. :D

How about going into services.msc and disabling the start-up service then manually starting and stopping the console with a batch script? That way by default it would be in power saving/charging mode (school) then you could turn FAH on when you want it to run (home).

Good point about the fans Mattus yeah, fortunately the fan has a pretty high threshold but it does happen occasionally... particularly in the English room since they always have the heating on, and that's usually quietest.

Thanks for the idea with the batch scripts Billy, I'd thought of that myself but in all honesty, I'm too damn lazy. What I really need is something that will control when FAH runs; at all times, except a) when on battery power, and b) anytime between 7am and 5pm during the week.

Ignoring the complexities and whether it's even possible with Windows scheduled tasks, would it work for FAH to control the client using scheduled tasks (due to the forced shutdown it would have), or does this risk losing work? I may give that a go provided it isn't going to kill the WUs.

Welcome to the folding goodness, any help is always much appreciated :) . I take it the drop in output is mostly due to the lack of big WUs? (which means all teams are suffering).

yes I think it's mostly down to bad WUs as we've not really lost any ground to the other teams - a few people have had slightly slack weeks due to hardware issues so that won't have helped
i'm going to add a bit more information from now on so we can see how well we've done compared to the teams immediately around us - should give a better idea of where the problem lies each time

welcome to all the new crunchers - if you have any questions/problems don't hesitate to ask :)

When you set the machine ID, does it need to be set for each computer (ie. does each computer sending to your account need a different ID). Or do it just need to be set if you have a dual core processor where you're running two clients on the same computer?
