Anyone else noticed that Athlon XP 3200's are back at OcUK - in the clearance section.

AMD Athlon "Barton" XP3200+ 400FSB (Socket A) CPU - OEM (CP-058-AM)

Price: £149.95 (£176.19 Including VAT at 17.5%) !!!

And that's cheap compared to getting one at auction these days....

Ridiculous prices, dont know how they expect to sell them.
Socket A is crap these days, no support.

It really isnt that bad.. :p My XP3200 in my rig at the moment is still going strong. My rig's score on 3dmark05 is up there with all the 64s (2.2ghz) with my X800

I run a 3200Xp Barton with a X800pro@pe and get over 6000 points on 3D mark05.
Not exactly slow is it. :)

Now i am going off to post a spec me and price check thread to see if i can get a no cost upgrade. :D

Sorry, didnt mean the actual performance was crap. I just mean theres no support, we get plenty of people asking about Socket A boards and chips and the threads just die with no replies. No doubt when emailing a manufacturer you get the same response.

I sold my XP3200 for a mere £45 inc on these very forums. I wish i had waited a few more months... :p

I know, I bought it. Still got it too, powering my wife's Biostar 210V with 2Gb RAM and 850XTPE. It's quicker than most of my P4 rigs. Won't clock though.

Dunno about the Clearence price  but latest auction "buy it now" new oem ones seem to be £75-95. Last used one fetched about £78.

Seems to me they are coming down in price, just like the 146s did.

No-one buys computer kit for the investment potential though, do they?

Athlon XPs just seem to have a special allure for some people though. And they are extremely stable, cool running and quick.
