I am about to install a 4850 tonight, i'm doing a fresh Vista install etc.. beforehand. Would you recommend i install these or just go with the regular 8.10's and wait for the next official release? I do have Far Cry 2 but i'm not going to be playing at a very resolution since my monitor is only 1280x1024, so i'm not sure i'd see much benefit anyway(unless the current performance is really poor).

Well these are absolutely crap for FC2 and DX10 under Vista64 and a single HD4870, still stutters and the decrease in performance for me is ridiculous.

DX10 1680x1050 all maxed, no AA. Ranch Small

1st 8.10 HF

min 26.16 ave 49.56 max 72.33

2nd 8.10 HF

min 7.17 ave 21.57 max 40.21

Great job ATI!!

Yes DX10 still has major issues with a 4870 and farcry 2, I also have low FPS in the DX10 bench, I mean do ATI not see this when they test the driver? its beyond comprehension.

From the look of these, I guess not, I was just about to have a rant on rage3d about these, so Spyre could come back with something witty! I could not remember my PW, so I have managed to lock myself out for 15mins, just as well.

Same here, absolutely awful benchmark results! It was as if the CCC AI isn't working - it doesn't matter if it's enabled/disabled, you still get rubbish frame rates.

Do they fix the Far Cry 2 crashes? Will try them when I get home...
No! I've experienced crashes in the game, but I hadn't had any until I tried these drivers :(
