I have a client with a brand new laptop, installed office home and student 2010 which was a 32 bit download and installed a previous version of outlook 2007 on 7 pro (64bit). It came with a 60 day trial of office 2010 but the client wanted their own versions installed because of cost.

On starting outlook I get a message saying

"You have a previous version of the MS exchange messaging service. Create a new Profile"

I have deleted the old profile and all of the files in the App Data/local|roaming/microsoft/outlook folders and I'm still getting the message.

Does anybody know where I need to be looking for this issue please?

Resolved this issue. In the 2010 download from MS you have to customise the install and stop the installer from overwriting older versions of outlook which you want to keep.

Then create a new mail profile and set that as the default.
