Munich - Stag Ideas

Hello all,

Looking for some ideas for a stag do in Munich in May. Participants will be mid-twenties. Looking for a good mix of activities, currently it's a blank canvas.

Thanks!

Goose stepping. Mentioning the war. Other such BANTER.

If you want to fit in more. Beer halls, obviously. And curry wurst. And leather trousers. And proclamations about the superiority of Germany (but mention how Bavaria is arguably better). Criticise immigration, particularly the SWARM which has come from TURKEY. Call your phone a handy. Pronounce DAS BOOT properly. Etc.

I hope this has helped.

+1 on the beer halls. They're epic!

We also did a tour of the BMW factory and Bayern Munich stadium when we went in september.

A visit to the Englischer Garten is good. Head for the centre where there is a mahoosive seated area and enjoy the beer in 2 pint steins for much cheapness

Another vote for BMW Welt, museum and factory tour, Then visit the numerous pubs in the town centre as you do some sightseeing. End the day in a beerhall.

I organised a mate's stag do in Munich in April last year.

Get out to Kultfabrik, its an old factory in the east of Munich that has been converted into dozens of bars and clubs (there is even a strip club as it's a stag do!).

If you like football take a look at the fixtures and see if you can go when 1860 Munich are at home, no problem getting a ticket unlike Bayern. Watching a match is so much better than a stadium tour.

If you go late April/very early May Fruhlingsfest (Spring Beer Festival) will be on. This is like a smaller version of Oktoberfest, with beer tents and a fairground. We had a great time at last years.

If they have Beer bikes (youtube) do it. We went to Berlin for a stag do and the beer bike was one of the best things I have ever done, so much fun.

+1 for the hoffbrauhaus. Also if you are a history nerd, do the third reich tours. Or get the train to Berchtesgaden and see the eagles nest and the remains of the Berghoff. Munich is a beautiful city with loads of bars and other gentlemanly entertainment.

They'd been banned when we went in April last year, not sure if the ban was lifted.

Another thing you can do is go on a raft down the river for a few hours, accompanied by lots of beer.

That place is horrid it was a bit dodgy when we went there, and the strip club seemed to bring out their B-Team by the looks of things

Oh, there is a guy we booked on our stag do called Max (iirc) who did a walking beer tour around Munich city center, honestly was the best 2-3 hours of the whole time we were at Munich (Oktoberfest). He literally walks around telling you about the city and pointing out landmarks, armed with a keg of beer and makes you play hilarious drinking games. Highly recommended for a good laugh.

I never ventured into the strip club so I'll take your word for that!

The bars we went in were pretty good, but I don't really remember much of that night!

Be careful what you ask for....

When I went on my brothers stag do a few years ago, a bunch of the other guys got in a taxi and asked for the closest lap dancing club and where promptly taken to a brothel!

Apparently in Germany, table-dancing is when we call a lap dancing club, lap-dancing is code for brothel!

Lots of taking-the-**** was had at their expense the following day!

BTW, that strip club in Kultfabrik is unisex so there are male strippers as well

Schwabing is where the best bars are in my opinion (I lived there for 5 years). Kultfabrik was called Kunstpark Ost when I was there, it's ok for a few beers and clubs but it's more your lower end type of place. If you are Northern you'll probably like it.

In the daytime check out the beer gardens in the Englischegarten - the Chinese tower one is nice. Or hire some bikes and cycle down the Isar stopping at each beer garden.

The English Gardens is the huge park right in the middle. The beer garden bit is beside the Oriental style buildings, you can't really miss it.

There are 2-3 beer gardens in the place. The massive one sits on the side of the lake.

If you're looking for a bit of ladies and gentlemen (the paid type) then apparently Hansastrasse is one place to go, or just wait outside Kultfabrik and the girls wait outside have red lights on their car dashboards. Apparently they drive you off somewhere nearby and entertain you.

Necro-bump. The stag is nigh.

We have arranged various silly costumes for our stag to wear, but I'm somewhat concious that the Germans might be less tolerant of silly stag-ness than back home, especially if we are English. Can anyone offer any insight as to whether this might be problematic for getting into nightclubs? Common sense says yes, but I've never been to munich so I don't know.

Dress up stag nights are just not really a familiar sight in Germany...I think it really depends on the club you want to get into as some of the Munich clubs are quite "posh" and you will have no chance getting in if you are either too drunk or dressed (stag-)stupidly.
Just be aware that in Germany "Blackpool kind of stag-due behaviour" (the kind you see on bad Channel4 documentaries) is not really tolerated by the public and that you are a "guest" in a different country/city.

I was in Munich for the Fruhlingsfest a few weeks ago for a lads weekend.
Awesome city, as mentioned the Hofbrauhaus, Augustiner keller - there's plenty to choose from. Also check out the Englischer Garten (look out for the nudists!) with the Chinesischen Turm within (seating for 7000 people). And went to the Allianz for a Bayern Munich match.

I don't think anyone in this thread has mentioned a trip to Dachau? I'd recommend it, we had a great guide who made the visit even more interesting. He took care of transport on the train as well.

There's not too many places I'd go back to, but Munich is definitely one of them

Oh and I did see a couple of stag do's around - all dressed in blue as smurfs, people seemed to take them in good spirits.
