New 120Hz/"240Hz" VA monitor for gamers (Eizo Foris FG2421)

Summary:
- VA (8bit colors)
- 120Hz input
- "240Hz" output with Lightboost-like technology for blur-free image (though also possible to disable)
- 1920x1080
- DP, DVI-D, HDMI
- matte screen surface (apparently not that "aggressive" AG, though)
- 24" (23.5")
- Flicker-free, meaning no PWM used above 20% brightness (when not using the 240Hz-feature, naturally)
- £450

Not that I would personally buy it though, 24" is a little too small for my taste. Apart from that, seem like Eizo has made all the right choices.

Ps. My country usually lags at least few months behind, but this time Finland was among the first to stock these.

I bought a BenQ XL2411T earlier this year to replace my ageing IPS monitor. I had to return it because I hated the poor viewing angles and washed-out colours.

How close to IPS quality should this monitor be?

Should be better than most IPS given that it's VA and an Eizo. VA is superior to TN.

ordering one tomorrow..were going to get the benq xl2420 but this looks better.
I have a rubbish 19" IIyama at the moment be a nice upgrade for bf4.

I will try to get my hands on one for review in the near future as well. The thought of a quality VA monitor with exceptional motion performance really is exciting.

With regards to VA vs. IPS vs. TN:
Viewing angles -- IPS > VA > TN
Color/image quality -- VA > IPS > TN

Or at least the deep blacks and contrast in general are better with VA. Though I think color accuracy is generally considered to be better with IPS monitors.

As for OCUK selling this:
I think I remember OCUK having some kind of request form for starting to stock a certain product, and if there are enough requests, they will consider it. Though I can't find it, anymore. Maybe I'm confusing OCUK with someone else...?

Now this is interesting. It appears that the 240Hz turbo mode can either frame double or insert a black frame (seems rather like lightboost to me) between frames to cut out motion blur.
Price of over £450 is rather expensive though, even when considering Eizo monitors usually command a premium.

It isn't either or. With Turbo 240 disabled the monitor always maintains an output refresh rate of 240Hz (with up to 120Hz input refresh). With Turbo 240 enabled this refresh rate is maintained but the backlight spends most of its time off (it is strobing much like LightBoost, as you said).

These sound really nice, shame its 24" though, ideally need a 22"

Have 3 22" 120hz currently, but having an upgrade for the middle one would be nice (currently on S23A700D).

Ahh man thought this was going to be a 1440p/27inch screen, everyone is still desperate for a high end screen with 120hertz+ and quality to boot @ 27inch and 1440p

Why would you want 1440p? There's no GPU that's going to take that to 60fps on a new game.

Why do they do that, its a 22" screen.

56.4cm is the width of the screen.
Screen sizes are measured diagonally.

There are more games than just new games, and even then there are GPUs that can push new games at 60FPS+.

Doing some interpolation based off of the monitor pictures and dimensions, this should be a fairly accurate representation of their bezel sizes between the Eizo and the Asus VG248QE:

The side bezels on the Eizo actually appear to be wider than the Asus, but the top and bottom (great for us Portrait setup users), are about 20-30% smaller. The real proof will be seeing how small the chassis bezel are underneath the cosmetic bezel.
