I have build a pc with AMD FX 8350, 8GB corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram, Gigabyte 990XA UD3, 1x WD green HDD, 1x DVD drive and a XFX Core Series 750 watt psu 62amp 12v+.
I have a Gigabyte R9 280X Windforce OC Rev 3.0 card installed and would like to get another for Crossfire, however I am unsure if the PSU will suffice since it's an AMD 8 core build ?I don't overclock or overvolt. Would the XFX cut it ?

I personally would've thought it would be fine as i ran a 2700k on a 290 crossfire setup on a gold 750W seasonic psu. What is the rated TDP of the cpu? Shame you don't have a better cpu to drive those 290's. Better make sure you keep it overclocked to provide enough grunt.

Not if he's overclocking his FX8350 to 4.80GHz+ as well.

There are for the moment no plans of overclocking since the FX 8350 is cooled by a Cooler Master TX3 Evo (92mm fans push/pull config).

It's a R9-280X in the PC ;) and I'd like to add another one (got the first card for £143).
I'm using this XFX in the build which should be a Seasonic OEM - it gets good reviews across the net.

The TDP of the FX 8350 is 125w.

That was a typo, i knew it was a 280X. :p

You should be fine with that PSU at stock or with normal overclocks on the gpu's.

Heheh fair enough:p
I'm not going to try to overclock the system yet, not with the Cooler Master TX3 Evo installed it's keeping it cool at stock speeds, but I'm not sure with full 8 cores overclocked. It's tiny cooler but does the job fine.

Had it been a 212 Evo I wouldn't mind trying to overclock...but as you see the TX3 Evo is a bit smaller  For the moment I just required something that would cool better than the box cooler for a very low Price.

At stock the CPU will use 140 Watts (despite its 125 Watt TDP rating its a 140 Watt CPU) at 4.8Ghz the CPU will use about 220 Watts, the GPU ~300 Watts at stock, ~350 Overclocked. the rest of the system about ~80 watts.

worst case; 600 Watts. 750 Watts is plenty.

Edit> 280X? 300 Watts overclocked for that... i miss read it as 290X lol

Don't forget, that with a stock FX8320, the 280X's are going to be quite bottlenecked, so power usage won't be near their peak amount :p
So he'll be lower power than a typical R9 280X Crossfire owner.

Using a FX 8350 ;) It may be limited at some resolutions but I was bored doing Intel systems over and over again (already got two lga 2011 setups), so I wanted to go purely AMD just to try them out again and get a feel for the FX CPU's... the last "real" cpu only processors from AMD.

We'll see if I'm lucky to get the other R9 280X as well if not then it'll just run with one GPU.
