Question on BT VDSL & Asus DLS-AC68U.

Hey im looking to buy th Asus DLS-AC68U because it supports BT fiber VDSL however im unsure if it still requires an open-reach modem or if the AC68U has a built in vdsl modem. :confused:

Could someone let me know if i need to use a openreach modem with the AC68U router or not.

VDSL2 modem is built-in.

I would hold off for a while until there's been some new firmware updates - see http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18606945

Whilst it may work fine for you, experience of myself and others isn't great so far. I would try and persevere more with it, but I don't want DLM kicking in again.

If you want the AC68U for its features, then I'd recommend the RT-AC68U and separate OR modem for the time being.

Ok cool, maybe i wont get one then seeing as a lot of people are having problems with this.
So as long as i keep my OR modem then any separate router would work?
for example the RT-ac68U or a Netgear nighthawk with fiber?
Sorry bout the basic questions just want to be sure before spending £150+ on a router.

Yeah - as long as you have the OR modem then both the RT-AC68 & R7000 will work perfectly.

I've got both, prefer the firmware on the Asus over Netgear, but the Netgear had slightly stronger wifi signal in the house. The Netgear firmware is a bit clunky and changing settings requires a reboot more often than not.

I have a DSL AC68U and it's fine other than hanging up about once a day in the evening.

Hanging up? If you mean it drops the connection almost every day then I'd consider that as broken.

I am waiting for Asus support to come back with a solution I think though it's the line not the Hardware as it's nearly always at a similar time between 20.00 and 22.00.

Well i ordered a RT-AC68U |so hopefully i will get a nice performance boost over my homehub3.
