Hi Guys

Some insider info here on a hot new product. We have some info about some exciting new prototypes of the Lian Li PC - 05 , PC - 06 & PC - 07

Lian Li has some preview images of three very interesting upcoming open-air enclosures published today and OcUK will be the place to buy in the UK.
The design process is not yet completed and it is a "work in progress".

They are planned so that every perspective of the case finds the space that is required for the individual needs of each component.

Similar variants are in development for Mini - ITX , Micro - ATX and ATX motherboard formats.

Although the three housing are not yet final, we are looking for feedback on the products as Lian Li are keen to hear enthusiast feedback.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming Lian Li PC-05 , PC-06 and PC-07

- Three sizes available : ATX , Micro - ATX , Mini - ITX
- Large tinted windows as a side panel
- Wall mounting possible
- The GPU will be mounted using a riser card ( without performance loss )
- Optimal cable management on the back
- Insulating cover for volume
- Radiator support is planned
- Horizontal or vertical openings ( Tower or Desktop )

An interesting use of a riser cable, as it'll allow for a full size card to be fitted into a half height box; which be great for "steam machines" that would be placed on the shelves of a TV stand.

The one thing that Lian Li would hopefully add would be a small metal squares or triangles at the 4 corners of the openings. This would allow for magnetic clips to attach for dustfilters, as otherwise the open ended design may become encased in a layer of dust.

Maybe I'm missing something but surely the airflow will be terrible in this thing? since there are no fans enforcing airflow from front-to-back (or vice-versa) aren't all of the fans going to struggle pulling cool air in? And wont what little flow there is be further disturbed by the warm air trying to escape? And to make matters worse the PSU vents into the case.

I'm just a layman though, presumably Lan-Li know better than I do. It certainly looks nice, like and old-school record player with a glass lid.

Like it but would be concerned about cooling and therefore noise. Also why the optical drive? That space may be more useful for something else.

Triple fail in my opinion.

You can only fit 1 discrete card into the ATX and Micro ATX versions because the case is so narrow, so it's a GPU in the awkwardly extended riser cable. Ergo what is even the point in these form factors?

Plus there's no space for a decent CPU cooler, and certainly no space for an AIO. Or even case fans. Yes, the glass panel seems to make it an open case design (so gonna get noisy too), but you still need a bit of fan-assisted airflow to help with cooling.

Fitting a single discrete card plays right into the Mini ITX version's hands. Yet the PSU position immediately negates space for anything larger than one of those short Asus 760s or the short Sapphire 285 Compact. nice to see Lian Li opting for a SFF PSU in the Mini ITX (because you just don't need full ATX with the 450W and 600W SFF units available from Silverstone), but the drive cage and optical drive are redundant and could be better used for the PSU position, allowing long GPUs to be used.

Personally I think Lian Li have lost the plot for many, many years.

6th image down appears to show an AIO fitted.

Air flow through the power supply appears to be covered?

Interesting look, particularly wall-mounted, but I'm not sure I'd go for one. Maybe I'm not quite enthusiast-enough for Lian-Li though

a total disaster right now...............why is the GPU lieing on its side... how the hell do you get the GPU into the PCI slot or does it have a new connector design.

ok that case has one problem only...........it aint deep enough, it needs to be deep enough to allow a large tower cooler to fit inside, which as you all know is about 230 mm.

it needs its side panels stretched, it also needs fan mount openings, ( 3 on each side) but the overall style looks great.....real quality

the roof area is a bit basic and lacks style, i would have the window hinged at the back and dropping down like an old ``record player`` from the 1970s

or maybe a large fan in the roof like a far better version of the old Antec Skeleton

I call shenanigans. I see the Corsair CPU block, I see the tubing, but I don't see where in the world the radiator will fit. Certainly no way it can go into the roof like the tubing suggests, because the case just does not seem 120mm wide, nor have at least 50mm height above the motherboard to fit a standard rad and single bank of fans (let alone anything like the H105 or a push-pull setup).

Mal, we discussed this on the Bitfenix Pandora thread. You don't need 230mm clearance if you can fit a radiator up top since an AIO will do the same job as a huge 1kg lump of metal. But it's not having 230mm AND not fitting a rad that causes problems, because you can't then cool a top-end CPU adequately. And if these are supposed to be enthusiast-grade cases then not being able to cool enthusiast-grade hardware is beyond a joke.

Although I think these Lian Li cases are fundamentally flawed, I appreciate their effort to do something slimmer and sleeker (same with Bitfenix), and supporting space for 230mm of air cooler will just make the cases the same wide and dumpy proportions they've always been.

Enough with the air coolers - it's 2014 :p

yea but i dont need Water cooling do i, because some of you lot might not be able to cool a CPU via air adequately, but i can..........EASILY. ;);)

the megahalems has one fan only.........26 degrees idle..... 40 degrees gaming at 4.8..............CPU de- lidded and lapped the other side, cooler lapped as well :cool:

``Enough with the air coolers``......... you cant beat a Megahalems, it's beautiful :)

another problem with this case !!! there's no room for SLI with the cards lieing flat.

this needs to have the dimensions and layout of a traditional pc lieing on it's side..... but if you dont want the full 230mm then 200 will do if the mobo is closer to the floor....or even less if you can find a really good top down cooler

Again from Lian Li, form over function. Might just put a desk fan in front of it, cooling looks almost non existent.

Got to say though, looks fantastic.

Aye, she is, but...

i7 4790K 4.7GHz @ 1.223V, 68 degrees at full load, Corsair H105 at 65% fan speed in a Bitfenix Ronin. Whisper quiet. Yeah, I beat the Megahalems :p

But from other people's temps either I got UNBELIEVABLY lucky or OCCT and AIDA64 are lying about the temps :D

not read every post sorry :(

however I think it would be cool to have an ir port/sensor on the front like the nucs to allow remotes and other devices to be used. the mixi itx case would then be an awesome HTPC/ Media centre build :p

.......Prime 95 beats my pc at full load, so i dont know what its true temps are

my cpu is hardly doing anything whilst gaming at 4.8, so the cooler is only about 40 degrees (one fan only).

but now i'm after another case...........not sure what though

Sounds like you're not playing very demanding games tbh, Mal.
This case seems right up your alley ;)

ED: Aww, you removed your statement about your PC being way too powerful for 1080p...

As for this case, I have to agree with most of the comments. Cooling is very questionable, but with a bit of refinement, it could be pretty good for lounge gaming with an eye on looks.
