Best ATI AGP drivers?

Just about to swap over an AGP graphics card for my parents, going to a X800 XT PE. What are the most stable drivers for this card under XP 32?

Heard that 7.12 were last working AGP ones. This correct?

Also, any idea what sort of PSU would be required? Their comp has an XP2500, 1 x hard drive, 2 x DVD. Nothing out of the ordinary, tbh. PC has a 9550 128mb in at the moment.

Many thanks!

I reckon 20Amps would run it although I had 22Amps on the 12v rail for when I was using my X800XT PE.

I think I was using the 7.2's with the X800 but if they give you problems then you could try the 6.11's and 6.12's as they were both solid sets. 7.5 or 7.6's (can't remember which although I favour the 7.5) were good drivers also and I was finding it hard to differentiate between 7.2 and 7.5 (or 7.6).

Fitted the X800 on Friday, and all went well. Used the 8.1 drivers, with the hotfix, and the card is running fine on sone generic 300W psu!

CSS stress test gone from 50ish FPS (all low/medium), to around 75 with all settings on high, 4 x AA, and 4 x AF. Great step up from the 9550!

Nice one Dyson :D.

I don't know about the drivers though as even the X1950Pro AGP isn't supported after 7.7 drivers or something similar as Cyber Mav keeps complaining about. I'm not sure though but after his suspension he might be able to add something. If something goes wrong then drop down to the drivers that I mention above.

Thanks JD. Gave the machine a good punding for a few hours. Didn't fall over once.

The hotfix available from ATI seems to have done the trick, but I have read mixed results. Heres the supported list:

Cats 8.2 finaly fixed AGP issues for me. X800 now works for both winxp and vista with my Abit nForce2 based board. 8.1 hotfix still had issues with OpenGL for me (black screen with eve online). prior to this the 7.7 cats was last version that worked 100%.
