It's been over a year since ive had to wire a wall socket, and this particular one from screw fix direct has THE worst diagram known to man. E-Cookie to anyone who can tell me the correct way to wire this!

I assume the wire clamp parts are numbered up?
The diagram seems to show them in this order.

green white 1
orange 2
orange white 3
blue 4
blue white 5
green 6
brown white 7
brown 8

Edit:
Maybe the position of the number shows the clamp/krone number?

2 - Green/White
1 - White/Green
6 - Orange/White
3 - White/Orange
8 - Brown/White
7 - White/Brown
4 - Blue/White
5 - White/Blue

The multiple colours on 2 & 6 which are probably the cause of confusion are showing an alternative method of termination. Google T568A T568B if you want more information.

It is exactly the same order that you would wire up a normal socket, so:

1 Orange/White
2 Orange
3 Green/White
4 Blue
5 Blue/White
6 Green
7 Brown/White
8 Brown

The numbers on the little diagram also corresponds to which terminal to punch the cables down into, ie 3 is the very bottom left, 8 is top right etc etc.

This is the correct way to do it. Coming from a guy who used to do this daily for 2 years.

It depends which wiring scheme you are using :)

T568A or T568B - either will work as long as it's the same at the other end - otherwise you have the equivalent of a crossover cable..
