what other pc games soon? any failed to live up?

since we have been spoiled this month with games and demos , what will we have to look forwards to soon , apart from crysis?

has any of the recent games failed to live up to your expectations?,

for me the crysis beta multiplayer was a dissapointment , i think the maps are to large for the amount of players , but i cant put my finger on it !

One beta surpsire for me has been frontlines fuel of war , very nice so far , considering it is in very early stages

i actually think all the demos and games coming out atm are very good
 
one that's failed to live up to expectations is duke nukem, my expectation is that it would have been released ages ago!
 
Clive Barker's Jericho didn't score too well in this month's PC Zone, was looking forward to this one.
 
UT3, Crysis, Gears Of War are out soon and CoD4.

To me Crysis seems more of a single player game, I'll give it a shot online but I'll stick to UT3 and Gears I think.
 
your probably the type of person that trys a game for 1 min then complains , its called patience theres plenty of games out maybe hunt for some old ones

Oh yeah? What mark did they give it?

I think Jericho was the only demo that turned me against purchasing the full game, Crysis was always going to be a single player game first and foremost so the beta demo hasn't put me off still buying it and if anything the demos of COD and UT3 have made me want the full games even more :D

The Timeshift demo has got me interested in the full game as well :)
 
ETWQ was disappointing for me....i did install the beta but then uninstalled without even playing it. i know i didnt give it a fair chance but i was just in spec mode and it didnt look like it could be fun.
i specced a fair while but so far all other online games ive played(fps/rts) looked like fun aswell as being fun.
maybe its just me as others seem to be having fun with it.

Most recent two I have tried: Call of Duty 4 and Unreal Tournament 3. Both excellent games. I'm not one to pre-order games, but I'm very tempted with these two.
 
CoD4 was v disappointing for me. well, it was fun...but it felt like a mod of CoD2. gfx were nice but the gameplay was identical to all the CoD series. follow your men, blow up a tank...more following. just too scripted for me :(

i enjoy Crysis beta but very much look forward to the demo because performance is v dodgy in the beta.

the UT3 demo is pretty cool...looking forward to picking this up when the prices fall!

November is gonna be a good month, look forward to seeing the reviews n ting
 
I was disappointed also with CoD4, and I agree completely that is just feels like a mod for CoD2. I expect I will purchase it at some point, but it's dropped down my list now, which isn't a bad thing considering the price many places are charging for it?!? :eek:

UT3, still high up on my list, feels very smooth. My only main concern with the UT games is their anti-cheat or lack of. I believe there is some in UT3 so it should be as bad.

Looking forward to Crysis. Mainly the SP side rather than the MP side, which becomes quite boring quite quickly.

And while awaiting the CoD4 demo I noticed Timeshift demo was also out. Finally got around to testing it and whooooooooooosh straight to the top of the list it goes. :cool: :D Reminds be of Max Payne and HL2 mixed together. Within the first 10 seconds of play I knew this would be one to buy, not bad for a game I'd heard nothing about.
 
I didn't enjoy cod3 past the first campange when i relised it would just be the same all the way through. And the multiplayer is just frustrating. I did enjoy the russian maps in multiplayer though as i love using the rifles.

Im very much looking forward to crysis. Not heard anything about timeshift but it sounds good. Then again i never thought hl2 lived up to all the hype.

Whats this about the cheating in UT? ive never played it on pc. Is it really bad?
 
I was just about to start a similar thread. For me there have been many disappointments so I am glad this thread was started as I would soon be getting a reputation as a whiner when posting on other game threads.

COD4 for the same reasons as many of you. I was hoping that they would have improved enemy AI and a more tactical element to the game play. I wish gamers would realize that it is cheap lazy sloppy game design to have constantly spawning enemies rather than decent AI. At least that is something that a game like FEAR gets right.

HL2 EP2 in a way is a disappointment, but in a way I was expecting it to be. The engine is showing its age and there has been absolutely no development in AI - same old same old. The storytelling and the level design turn it into a very good game, but not a great game. If this beats Bioshock as game of the year I will hugely disappointed.

Clive Barkers Jericho is absolute simplistic arcade nonsense and not scary in the slightest. The only similarity it has to Undying is the Clive Barker in the title. Apart from the demo I have been watching other game play trailers and it appears to have absolute no variation in game play and the dark environments.

Stranglehold - what can I say, awful awful?

The last quarter of this year is supposed to be best for awhile, but at this rate I am starting to have my doubts.
 
yes cod4 bit dissapointed as its like cod2 modded and anyone that knows me will tell you of my hatred of this game :p:p think i always knew it was going to be a consoley type cod after cod2.uo with updated graphics would be my ideal cod game,its almost perfect fps online experience.

crysis same single player game really was hoping for great multiside of it.


and the one i was most unsure about is actually best game ive played for ages which is unreal tourne 3.beats both of the others hands down.thats hard to say for a cod vet i can tell you.
