Canon printer - horizontal lines??

Hi guys, got my canon printer working finally!

However, sometimes when I print I'm getting horizontal lines across my prints (doing photos) and after this line...the tone of the print seems to change too, like its tinted darker :confused:

I read somewhere that setting the quality to 1 (for the highest) manually works, and it did for a 6x4, but Ive just tried an A4 photo print and its done it again!! Has anyone had such issues and fixed them? It did it with an old canon too...but I guessed that was down to cheap cartridges too, but I guess not?

My HP printer does the same, only really noticeable on photos, I put it down to being a cheap and nasty printer...( paid £ 40 for it)

What Canon printer are you using? I've got an older IP4200 & I get really nice results from that. I've only ever used official Canon ink & paper though. Yes it's more expensive but you can get good deals if you shop around, epsecially on the paper. I bought 100 sheets of A4 Matte photo paper for around £7, buy 1 get one free! I've tried some other high quality paper (I used to work in a digital print company

), which gave decent results but not as good as the official Canon paper.

I usually get that issue with canon ip5200 when I haven't set the print head up properly or its blocked.

Thanks for the replies....I've printed out a few pics just using the windows explorer built in print tool and they've all (so far) come out fine!! I was initially printing straight from Lightroom....could software be the key?

potentially but I can't remember any issues using lightroom on mine (haven't got it installed anymore)

streaking across a page is 99% blocked nozzels from the cartridge,
if it's a printhead cartridge take it out, and stand it in some hot water for a few seconds, take out and wipe the print head with kitchen towel, that should correct the issue
