Can you please spec me a gaming system including a monitor for £1000 including VAT. Monitor must be widescreen and at least 20 inches. Thanks.

heres one i made earlyer :)

Make sure you wait for the new GTS's to come out as they willbe a lot more powerful :)

O and i am not an expert on screens so you should really go down to the monitor section and ask them what they think you should buy. I beleive that to be a gooden though :) ... it appears i dont use fullstops any more and just use smilies :p

Looks good but i dont see an OS in there, would need to be 64-bit for the 4Gigs of ram.
For Gaming there is some debate other which is better between 22" and 20" inch as they are the some resouloution as far as i know. Ask in the monitors section where they know better. My understanding is that for Gaming the best monitors are still the big old CRT's which can be had for peanuts nowadays, if youve have room and can stand the idea of CRT they can't be beaten.

Oh also do you need a mouse and keyboard with that?

The people who think CRTs are better is a dated idea which doesn't apply any more. For the price they may be good but TFT's are a lot nicer and more practical now.

I dont mean to start the whole crt vs tft argument, its the last thing i want lol. But for pure Gaming i think they are still best. For practicality and general "niceness" TFT's are the best. When good 22" inch crt's can be had for around £40 its certainly something to consider. That would also leave money for Vista-64bit and nice mouse and keyboard.

Keep em comin, some good specs so far. I already have a Retail Vista Licence and keyboard and Mouse, so just need a System Unit and Monitor.

Also would the 520 watt Corsair be adequate for the 8800GTX? and the Antec P182 case. Would the psu cables be long enough?

Biggest PSU u can get is 1000w and thats for 2 high end graphics cards so 520w should be ok. A good 500w psu is still a good 500w psu 5 years later.

I have a p180 which I believe is the same design as the p182 (its shiny or something isnt it?), and an enermax 500w liberty; works a treat. I recommend enermax never used anything else myself. Used a 350w and 550w enermax (predecessor to the noisetaker series) and my latest 500w liberty. I have a x1900xt which is a power hungry card.

Having said that Corsair should be a good one, not heard anything bad about them.

The point I was trying to make but have missed is that the cables reach with my both the enermax 550w and 500w so it should be ok generally. However because of the design and placement of bays you might not be able to put an ide dvd-writer and ide hard drive right next to each other to use 1 cable. IDE ports on new motherboards becoming scarce. Only 1 such port on my P35-DQ6.
