Yep, but because it's bulkier it handles well. Just working my way round the differences between it and the 5D.

That might be what you call it. I call it "made to fit"
To be honest the 5D fits perfectly in your hands anyway so the leap isn't quite to spectacular but from X00, X000 cameras in the range its a stonking difference.
Admittedly the 40D does now fit more like a 5D but this is a recent change.
My mint 5D is for sale. UK body only. Boxed with all manuals etc.
Great camera, only selling because I now have a 1Ds MkIII.

Why oh why do these kind of offers only come up AFTER I have made the plunge.
Was looking at 5D's but could not afford full price, and most of the 2nd hand ones that I saw were a bit ropey, so I went for a nice new 40D in the end, this would only have been £100 more than I paid.
Oh well I will just have to convince myself that I could not possibly go backwards to only a Digic 2 processor, only 3 fps burst, only a 2.5" LCD.
If I try hard enough I can convince myself, honestly !!
