Crysis loses out at awards

i don't see how i game like cod4 can win game of the year, it has no real story line, it's just a selection of missions, crysis was class, so was bioshock, stalker should have been up high in the list

COD4 didn't win game of the year, it was Bioshock.

you dont like cod4, crysis or bioshock, maybe you should think about whether you actually like gaming at all? those three + orange box and you think the 'era of gaming is becoming so stale' whats wrong with you...

I couldn't agree more.

Half the bullcrap in this thread blows my mind TBH, and a shocking amount of it is coming from the newbies.

I'm not naming any names, but it looks to me like the people I'm talking about havent even played the games they're on about at all when they're making such retarded comparisons and comments.

Note how I didn't even try to imply which games I think should've won/lost, because that's not relative to my point at all. Simply pointing out how much bullcrap people on this forum talk sometimes.

Oh dear, what an original person you are ..... someone has a different opinion to yourself 'which in your little world' is not on, so you start flaming at them knowing sod all about the person, making a laughable suggestion to the person if they like gaming at all .....GROW UP. But i'm forgetting your opinion is more meaningful than the other.

You see, I don't have a problem with the fact you like the game's in question, but I am finding them far too repetitive, i've seen it all seen it before.

Anyway, why the hell should I explain myself to immature ignoramuses, which obviously you are...

Glad Crysis didn't win, it doesn't deserve to with all the verbal spooge Cevat Whats-his-chops spouted winding up the hype machine. Sadly, win or not - Crytek, EA, Intel, NVidia etc. have made their money.

Funny how that patch still hasn't turned up either, 7-14 days my ****.

Im glad you said that, cause I agree 100%, but if you say that here you get slated, I have all his interviews saved anyhow and he dont have tell us a lot of BS over the year leading up to the game, and as you say the patch is well late.

I also salute the peeps on Crysis Forums who canceled their preorders after Demo ran like crap.

I don't agree that CoD4 shouldn't do well because it lacks a decent story, as a story is not needed to make a good game in any way. Stories tend to spoil many games that i have played and it is extremely rare for a story to actually add to a game.
That said, CoD4 single player was so unbelievably average. I was expecting so much more after all the positive comments.... but then that was mainly from console only players who really aren't particularly picky with their FPSs... still though, totally average aside from the boat mission.
Never ending enemy spawns has just got to stop. I don't mind enemy closets, but when they keep coming until you advance past an arbitrary point it just gets ridiculous. Ruined all of the immersion that the excellent graphics, voice acting and sound track helped create.

Never bought Bioshock because i hate such archaic DRM which only hurts the paying customer.

Orange Box is my GOTY followed by Mario Galaxy. How that game wasn't even in the running in those awards i will never know. The critical acclaim for the game speaks for itself though i guess!

Not far on Crysis yet so can't judge and never bought Bioshock because i hate such archaic DRM which only hurts the paying customer.

You have missed sod all gameplay wise with bioshock in my opinion, but what is your opinion on crysis so far ?

Not naming any names here, but the people slating other people regarding they don't know what their talking about couldn't explain the gameplay difference between cod2 and cod4 and also farcry and crysis.... because there is none.

This is the important factor some people can't fathom, as far as i'm concerned.

So let's reverse the question and ask them is they have actually played cod2 and farcry etc ..

Played Far Cry and Crysis to death, not remotely the same.

Played Call Of Duty 2 and Call Of Duty 4 to death, again not remotely the same.

It gets even worse when people compare Crysis to Call Of Duty 4 though.

P.S. I also especially love it when people I'm not even talking about make a reply. :)

my god, CoD4 had moments of beauty but every other mission seemed to be a race against the clock...ON AN ALREADY VERY SHORT GAME :eek:

Pros: nice graphics, nice weapons, awesome animation, AC-130 mission + the secret mission ;)

Cons: way too short to be considered a "game", very linear, spawning enemies + trigger events... *sigh*

they should have changed the CoD style for Modern Warfare...it isnt WW2 anymore... :(

shame really...

Game of the year for me...STALKER + Bioshock
despite Stalker's its bugs...it really offered something different...same for Bioshock

not played Crysis so cant comment...enjoyed the demo...

Not played Orange Box tho thoroughly looking forward to TF2!

Perhap's you could elaborate to me on the difference,as I didn't think there was and I like to be educated. :D

How do you know anyone was reffering to you previously. :)

It'd take so long to elaborate on the differences that I'll do the similarities instead: -

COD2 & COD4: You have guns and shoot people.

Far Cry & Crysis: You have guns and shoot people, there is an island.

How do you know anyone was reffering to you previously. :)
Dude you pretty much copied my post word for word. ;)

Bioshock was a 1950's work of art, cool, creepy story and unique weapons - it gets my vote
I agree with all of that, I really liked it from an art and design point of view but for some reason I just couldn't get stuck into the game. I'm not sure why though, it just didn't really grip me.

Not sure really, I just found it far too slow-paced and a bit linear for my tastes. That and, since you asked, I did think that it was so hyped up to hell that it almost became a disappointment.

Before someone jumps on me for saying linear but enjoying COD4, COD4 isn't slow. :)

You scare me.

Basically the story has a morale choice to it - 'harvest' the girls (and get the bad ending) or help them and get the good ending

when you first have to make the decision in the game the girl fears the worst and slides back into a corner petrified - quite cinematic

And you have two people each advising the opposite at the same time
