As title, my elite will never start 1st time, it takes 2-4 times of turning it on/off before it boots up and then works fine.....will work fine for hours.

It doesnt seem to display this behavior after the consoles been on for about 30 mins, then if I turn it off it boots up again fine, however if I leave it off for an hour or so again the same thing happens.

Any ideas?

A replacement that MS sent me does this. (Premium)

I switch it on from cold and it does nothing... sometimes it will have one red ring of light, error E74 or something. Leave it on for a second, switch it off and then on again and its fine.

I'd have sent it straight back to MS had Halo 3 not arrived the next day. I think I'll call them up after Ive got all the games I got for Xmas out the way.

You could probably get microsoft to send you a replacement PSU.

What colour is the light on PSU on these cold boots out of interest?

My elite will spin the lights round if my amp isn't selected on the HDMI output. Other than that I haven't had any problems with my Elite.

But as others said dont put up with it, get a replacement.

The thing is though, in my case. The PSU I have came with my original Xbox back in October 06. Since then I've had three other replacement consoles on this PSU and none of them have had this problem... which makes me think there is nothing wrong with the PSU and that its console related.

same problem here, odd times it just wont boot up. so i have to go through the process of switching it off at the socket, back on again and THEN it boots.

Think that its worthy of a replacement?

I also get the spinning lights on the 360/controller if my t.v isnt on hdmi when i boot, take it thats a common experience?

edit - i have an elite and am running it on hdmi through a Toshiba C3030 32" LCD

PSU's can break over time, caps wear out etc.

Annoying, but I think that's normal. Both the original Xbox and the 360 don't start unless they have an active video connection.

Oh yeh I guessed it was normal. But when I was on composite I could switch on my 360, go for a tinkle, come back and switch my TV and amp on and I was already to game. Now I got to turn all the stuff on first.
