Birdcam 2008 - The Official Thread

web cams are really cheap these days - bought 1 on auction site for £2!!! :o and that was from japan!!! thought it was going to be a con but it worked lol - was a great bargain cos was pretty good too ;) :D

I've managed to get the videos uploading to my website but could do with a better way of displaying them for people to view! At the moment they are all held in http://www.mission74.com/birdcam/2008/ which isn't the greatest!

As well as capturing the video it is also capturing jpg snapshots every 10th of a sec, would be ideal if I could pick one of these and then link off to the video?!

I had some collered doves make a nest behind my satellite dish. I setup a day/night cam and recored all the motion.

Here is the YouTube video:

And here is a random still from the 10,000 photos taken! (I set the PC to record any motion)

I think that is a fantastic idea.

Does anyone know how much of a CPU hit these capture cards have on PCs ?

I very much want to do a similar thing, a birdbox cam for my daughters to watch nesting birds and the other three channels to provide security for the front and back of my house.
I do have an "always on" machine, and wondered if I can get away with just adding the capture card to it.
