Was out on a boat waiting to go paracending in Tennerife. Something jumped up out the water infront of the boat, flew allong a few cm above the water for about 5 seconds, then dropped back in again. Looked fish-like
To answer this question more seriously, yes on several occasions when fishing during Dusk you normally see quite a few as they jump or 'fly' for the flys.
I might add I was on a boat at the time island hopping, and they tended to 'jump' from the wave break. I'm assuming it was due to the proximity of the boat. As they were on the top of the break they were able to glide for a considerable distance before they landed back in the water
Accidentally caught one whilst doing a little fishing in Cyprus I've heard accounts of people seeing them glide 20/30ft lengths across the updraft of waves
