Not sure if i am paranoid, just got a call from a normal mobile number (not a landline/call center) claiming to be my insurance. They said they wanted to make what i am paying cheaper (just started a new contract, insurance is £7.50 pm so £90 for the year). He said i was paying £120 :confused:and wanted to make it to £60. Then wanting some details; phone, a password to use for future use. I dont remember ever talking to someone at a call center and it coming up as just a normal mobile number. What do you think?

I personally wouldn't give out any details. Just tell him you've just renewed your insurance last month and ain't interested.

Certainly sounds dodgy to be honest.

why bother with phone insurance in the first place, it is too expensive for what it is. you can just get it covered on your home insurance.

You don't really want to have to claim on your home insurance when you lose a mobile phone. It will generally have a higher excess than specific mobile phone insurance, as well as you may find it difficult to change insurance providers if you fancy a move next year (you have to declare that you've had a claim).

I'm pretty sure this is a scam mate.

I work in the fraud department for Natwest/RBS and had someone a couple of weeks ago who'd been cleaned out after recieving a similar call.

Of course it could be gen but I'd be wary. If they call back get some details of exactly what insurance company they claim to be working for and try calling them back from a number that you can find for that insurer in the phonebook or whatever. Also try googling the number they called you on, wouldn't surprise me if it comes back with other people having similar calls.

it is a scam, my friend had the exact same, they asked for bank details too, take a name and say u will call ure operator ;)
