I am a massive massive massive Final Fantasy fan. And final fantasy 7 is my favourite out of the series.

Now my question is this, Is it worth picking up a PSP just to play this?

Do you think the game will ever come to PSN on PS3??

I'm really missing out on some awesome Final Fantasy extra story here! I'm very tempted to go out and get one, Just so I can play the one game lol :p

If you are a massive, massive, massive fan, then yes.

haha, I kinda thought that, It's just a lot of money.

To be honest, If there's chance of a PSN version of the game, I'd rather hold back and put the money into a PS3.

Although a PSN version is just something i've dreamt up, Chances are it will never happen

If you're a really big FF fan then you can also get FF Tactics which is great. And there's the anniversary editions of I and II, but that's only if you're a really big fan. They're really dated, they don't compare to the newer ones.

Also in the future there's FF Dissidia which is some sort of fighting game with FF characters.

GET IT!!!! trust me on this, i picked this game up on import and its amazing!!! there a few little niggles but i'm about 30 hours in at the moment and still loving every second!

Just like you i'm a massive FFVII fan too and find that this game compliments it in a big way!

ive just got a PSP myself primarily for this game (and for FFVII again but thats not discussable on these forums and i need a pandora battery first), although its easy to get hold off from the bay im not sure on it as i havent played FFVII in a while would you reccomend playing through VII again for the story?

also im just near the end of FFI that i got when i got my psp, ive not been big on games for some reason lately but since i got another psp (sold my jap launch one) ive really been into it. and yes FFI and im sure II are very dated but for a bit of fun there better then some current RPG games

so to the OP there is also a rarther good catalogue of games for the PSP now so it wouldnt be just a one game purchase and if your after a PS3 or have a PS3 its a very welcome addition to it... i just wish there were more PS1 games on the UK PSN as i dont have any way to download off the jap/US stores.

Also LocoRoco is brillient and Echochrome look ace as does patapon but im yet to play that.

If you want to learn about Zack and his story, and who he is to Cloud then it's worth it. I've had my import since yesterday but not played it much, but so far it looks fantastic and the cutscenes are Advent Children quality.

Only fault I can pick in it would be that ideally I would have watned a Japenese version with English text, but I guess the American dubbing isn't too bad..

ahh, i didnt know it was dubbed.

is there any plans for english dubbing for the UK version or is it likely to be the same US dubbing???

also is there any option to turn off the dubbing as it never seemed to work on the other FF games ive played with it i.e. X and XII... not a bad thing always as it works great with Oblivion and Mass Effect

Nope no option at all. I guess it's down to size, they can't really have two soundtracks for the game.

On a sidenote the music, although not all done by Nobuo Uematsu, is still damn good and enjoyable and gives it that FF7 atmosphere. And a tip, don't start on hard mode, as it's just that, damn hard, so I've started again.

Do any of the FF7 tracks return? And it's a shame about the dubbing, I'd much prefer a japanese language and subs option too

There are FF7 tracks, but they aren't the original MIDI ones, just the reworked ones from Advent Children, which I actually kind of prefer now as I love the guitars in some of them.

I only had a quick go and didn't like the combat just seemed like button mashing and rushing to pick any skill, i can't do with this real time stuff wish they had stuck to the turn based off ff7 :(.

I seriously doubt that. It would just be a waste of time and money since it's already in the same language (or at least one that we can understand without problems).

Yea I agree with maddog. At first I sort of liked the comabt. But after a while, it really started to grate on me. It's whack-a-mole, I don't like it at all. I'm just spamming the X button every fight, there's no point in casting spells. The music isn't up to much either in my opinion -- lot of dance tracks with guitars, wtf.

I think Square haven't just made a Final Fantasy game, they've made a Final Fantasy game for the PSP. And that's the problem. FF7 and 8 are both richer experiences, and you can play them on the PSP. So why isn't Crisis Core better? There's no excuse really.

The graphics are outstanding howeverk, and aside from a few awkward camera positioning issues, it's a decent game. It's not a Final Fantasy though.

Think about it though, a whole game of turn based with ONE playable character? it would get extremely annoying having to wait for your turn to attack the enemies time after time. As it gets harder (and it does, and even more so with hard mode) it becomes much less of mashing X and more about dodging, setting up barriers, healing and other such stuff. I like it a lot. They are never going to go back to turn based unfortunately, even if they remade FF7 i can't see Square Enix putting it back in :(

But for this game the real time works I think.

I prefer turn based, but I'm not opposed to real time. I loved the combat in FF12, for example.

I'm at Nibelheim and I've saw little variation in the battles. I dunno, it just seems too twitchy/Devil May Cry for me. You have to run aimlessly around like a headless chicken hoping to dodge attacks if you want to pick out a potion or item. It's not a very elegant solution.

Yes, but they could have gone turn based and given you a group of characters. Even if I preferred real time, I'd rather go turn based and have 2 or 3 more in my party, because although you'll lose the freedom of movement, you gain the interesting dynamic of managing other characters.

Turn based is fine, as long as you're not sacrificing other important elements so you can shoe horn some 'action' in. Which is what Square have done with Crisis Core.
