Affliction MMA PPV - Fedor is back baby - hell yes!

After being freed from M1, Fedor was free, and now he's all set to fight in the US at the 1st Affliction PPV on July 19th in California against .... Tim Slyvia! Hopefully once Fedor destroys Slyvia, it'll silence all the "he hasn't fought anyone good for years" people.

The rest of the main card is looking awesome, so far:

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia
Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo
Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Paul Buentello
Matt Lindland vs. Fabio Negao
Mike Whitehead vs. Renato "Babalu" Sobral
Ben Rothwell vs. Andre Arlovski (*rumoured)

And the best thing? If Fedor beats Sylvia, then it's looking like he'll face the winner of Barnett / Rizzo. So we could FINALLY see Fedor vs Barnett, which for me is a better fight than Fedor / Couture. And once Couture is out of contract in October, we might finally see that fight too.

What with Dream and now Affliction, we're finally seeing some decent rivals to the UFC :)

You can never get enough of Fedor and whats even better, is the fact he is going to demolish Tim Sylvia who I can't stand.

Next few months are looking good.
 
Best thing is, what with the UFC cutting down its roster, and with a lot of the other promotions having non-exclusive fighter contracts, we could see a lot more top-tier talent heading towards Affliction.

Even though i'm no fan of Tito Ortiz, he's a big name, and if he does indeed leave the UFC after his fight with Machida, then that could be a huge signing. With Fedor, Couture and Ortiz, that's 3 of the biggest names in MMA!

I am a great fan of Fedor and his brutal style, but don't be surprised if it's not the demolition job you and I hope for. Sylvia has an awkward style and uses his size very well to spoil his opponents fights. I think Fedor will win, but not in the usual dynamic style we are used to.

Fingers crossed i am wrong though and Fedor takes his jaw off :D
 
If Fedor has any sense he'll take him straight to the ground, then it'll be over in seconds.
 
Yeah I can see an armbar finishing it pretty quickly on the floor. Tim isn't the best on the ground, and I can't see him stopping one of Fedors Judo style throws.

Tim may shock the world though, you never know, he has a hard punch and hell of a reach.
I pray he doesn't though, we'll never hear the end of it.

You're right Fedor vs Josh is a huge, huge fight.

I love the way UFC have put together a card to try and take away PPV buys from affliction. Silva up in weight and Vera dropping to Light-Heavy.

To be honest, I think it will work. As good as the affliction card is, who will the casual fan know beyond Tim and Andre? For us fans affliction will be a treat, but I think hardcore and casual fans alike will also want to watch UFC.

Ultimate Fight Night this Saturday for anyone in the US too! I've been super impressed with Amir and as talented as CB may be, I hope Amir takes it again. WAR!!!!!11one
 
What can you say, it was a typical Fedor performance. I am not sure there is any heavy weight who could take him right now.

It would be nice to see him face Couture but I can't see Couture beating Fedor.

It would be interesting to see what would have happened if Nog and Couture fought also.

Hopefully these guys get back up to the class that the Pride events were at before the UFC bought them.
 
If only Mirko was still in his striking prime with an updated ground game i could see him pushing Fedor to the limit i still think he was the closest to defeating him along with Nog. Not sure if he would win though :D

All this hype about Couture defeating Fedor, somebody on a different forum suggested, it took Fedor around 40 seconds to do what it took Couture 25 minutes and a decision to do!

Anderson was in tip top form as well, that massive gash under Irvins eye was horrible!
