New Car Again - ST220

Not that many differences, off the top of my head :

6 Speed Gearbox, Sony CD System, rear light clusters changed and some chrome round the front grill

Nope that would be the 2005 facelift, the 53 plate one was the 6 speed box with changed clutch/flywheel. New dash/6 disc sony changer + the newer denso satnav as an option Electric passenger seat as standard and think thats about it.

On price, they seem to be holding very well considering the recent tax increases as I got mine with fsh/35k miles 04 plate for 8450 back in march, with a couple of mods too. That 8.5k silver one seems very overpriced as the performance blue holds a small premium over the other colours.

Looks like the 53 plate ones are the ones to go for then. The non facelifts are still amazing value for money. Need to test drive one now.

Lovely cars, wish I could have owned one at some point. Sadly I don't think I could put up with the interior any more :p

Aye much better and a lot more reliable, the pre facelifts had issues with flywheel clutch wearing due to the dual mass design.

Also get yourself over to one of the owners forums stownersclub.com or stdrivers.co.uk for any advice/help you need.

Nice motor indeed Neil. Looks as though it's in good shape and the blue looks great. Should serve you well

I am still not totally sure what drives people into buying these cars, while as a car i cant fault them, i am yet to work out the appeal and what drives people into dropping the cash on them. The same money buys something like a BMW x30i sport (older, but so what?) which are generally superior in every aspect.

Would be a boring place if the same cars floated everybody's boat though :)

Well for me it was mainly insurance but the fact you could get a lot newer car with many less miles for the price, obviously as a car enthusiast I know this isnt a problem but there is a bit of piece of mind that comes with this. BTW insurance for this was half that of a 530i or 330i sport for myself. (1yr driving 1yr ncb)

I didnt factor insurance, in your circumstance i can understand it in that case. Understand that i do like the ST220, i think its great for what it is, its just the draw of other machinery which would always draw me away.
