Cant Select 720 or 1080 With My 360 Elite

Hi,
I finally brought a 360 Elite this morning but the only resolution i can select is

480 the rest are greyed out, i am currently playing on my 28" hannsg monitor

via the hdmi cable, what am i doing wrong. :confused:

might for some reason not be reporting the resolution properly via HDMI? Try reseating the cable etc

I have reseated the cable at both ends twice now but it is still the same,

Try using the component cable first. See if you can select 720p with that.

is this using HDMI or that weird xbox cable, if it's the xbox cable have you changed the switch at the console end to HDTV?

I cant use that cable because the monitor only has vga, s-video and hdmi,

I am using the hdmi cable.

Might have something to do with the copy protection, does it have HDCP support ?

My 28" Viewsonic Monitor with HDMI does the same thing, if yours is the same issue, it's because the display does not report it's supported resolutions over HDMI, most devices, like the PS3 will allow you to 'force' the resolutions, the 360 won't..

In the end I went VGA...

That is probably going to be the cause of my problem then, oh well only got to put up with it till tuesday.

I actually find VGA to be very good, you can then soften the image slightly which is excellent for some games like GTAIV..
