Saints Row 2 makes fun of GTA4.

Actually, watching it again it looks like they have noticed what has been dropped from the GTA series since Vice City and gone in that direction. Not a bad move as it then tailors for those who miss that kind of stuff from GTA and keeps it different enough to capture the market share.

That said though I was expecting the graphics to look a lot better after the last trailers. The physics etc seemed a bit old hat too.
 
was about as impressed with GTA4 as I was with saints row, but saints row 2 actually looks good.

agreed, I just showed my brother the trailer, He seemed to like the graphics, He mentioned the monster truck scenes. But a lot of the outside world, doesnt look too impressive, and a lot like GTA last gen graphics. Like when he throws the dude under the train.

that said, Gameplay > Graphics

Which will be proven, if this turns out a better game than GTA4. I wasn't a big fan of GTA4, So it won't take much for me to prefer SR2

Exactly what I was thinking but didn't want to be the first to say. Will probably get ripped to shreds by the 'we didn't like GTA cuz were cool' gang now :p
 
Damn, I wanted to hate Saints Row 2. I hated hated hated Saints Row, but this instalment does look to be a hell of a lot of fun.
 
Really looking forward to this, with the exception of GTA 1, the GTA stories never gripped me. I just spent time blowing stuff up.
I actually completed Saints Row and really enjoyed the storyline.

Bought GTA4 but feel like I wasted £45 :(.
 
You know they have put a lot of effort into the game when they are actively standing up to GTA4 squarely in the face and trying their best. Any other dev would have cowered in the corner meekly, hoping gamers will want more GTA4 fix and would settle for any old clone. It's in everyone's best interests that SR2 really does step up to the platform and stands up to GTA4. Surely you can see that.
 
Looks awesome! I like the seriousness of gta though its more involving, don't think many other games capture that.

It's not even slightly as bad as last gen GTA graphics, don't say silly things like that.

The style is very different to GTA4, more like the old GTAs, the graphics however are far beyond what we saw in GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas.

I am very pleased with this. I too wanted to hate Saints Row 2 after not getting on with the first one too well (probably due to the fact that I hardly played it), however I'm really looking forward to this.

The fact that they feel that they can stand up to such a big player as Rockstar and posture in such a way goes a long way to show what we can expect in my opinion.
