US man badly injured and left in road

Looks like the driver was being involved in some sort of chase? Two cars overtaking like that, very odd.

Police car appears to be on the scene in seconds though.

It's because they're American. Bit of a stretch but honestly, with the lackadaisical culture they have over there it is phenomenal. I have witnessed two accidents where a person has been hit by a car in recent years, and everyone got their phones out and dialled 999 almost in unison, people crowding around the victim and cradling him, etc etc... over there it's 'one for youtube!'

Yeah well, doesn't suprise me much. Neither would it if it were here.

what. i was in Oxford shopping when an elderly lady tripped up, everyone rushed over to aid her.

a foreign person did ask what's the emergency services number to which some fool replied 911.

but i'd help unless they were a chav, but we're talking human here.

I saw a guy about a similar age bounce off a bus, myself and a bunch of workmen ran over to help. Ambulance was silly quick.

I have also seen people in beaten up states etc that people just ignore and walk passed.

While this is really bad, it really doesn't suprise me.

I'm glad it wasn't like that when I got hit by a car. I was lucky and there was an off duty paramedic walking past, I wasn't badly hurt though, walked out of hostpital about an hour and a half later. This was 13/14 years ago though, I don't think people where as bad back then, well at least not in my town.

I had to call an ambulance once for someone who'd collapsed near a busy supermarket. People just walked on by doing their best to ignore the situation as I got there. I got no help whatsoever from anybody to help the guy.

I've no idea why, I guess people just don't want to get involved for fear of any repercussions...

You move him and he ends up crippled he sues you for everything you've got.

Welcome to America and why you watch people die in the middle of the road.

I'd have helped in this Country, i'd have gone nowhere near him in America.

I remember reading a case in America where a person was sued by the person who's life he saved and ended up losing the case.
The reason? During the life saving CPR, he cracked one of the dying man's ribs. Even though paramedics said that if he hadn't given the CPR, the man would have died, he was still ordered to pay monetary damages.

I haven't watched the video but if the old man was in danger of getting hit by a car, I'd move him. If he was fine where he was, I'd call an ambulance and stay with him.. but I wouldn't lay a finger on him.

You don't have to touch him though. Just try talking to him, call an ambulance, reassure him that he'll be ok. You can't get sued for talking to someone....can you?

Probably. 'I didn't like his manner, here's a lawsuit' Wouldn't put it past America.

Seriously though, i guess most Americans are just trained to keep their noses out when stuff like this happens for fear of being sued, you cant be sued if you stand over 3 foot away can you?
