Floyd Mayweather retires!

just another random ploy to get more money, as it will cost more to take him out of retirement... again.

But Ali was likeable, unlike Mayweather. :p

How much was he liked in his time? Was he seen as an egotistical arrogant sod, or was he liked as much as he is now, where people can see the mastery of his arrogance in a different light?

Ali had charm, Mayweather comes across as a *****.

They might totally opposite behind closed doors but thats how i see them and Mayweather's PR people don't seem to care.

I don't blame him for retiring, he's at the top of the world in the pound for pound ratings, has beaten virtually everyone out there and has more than enough dosh.

He is an arrogant person, but a lot of boxers are like that and a lot of the arrogance is shown in his pre-fight hype, so should be taken with a pinch of salt, he's just publicising the bout most of the time.

He's a brilliant fighter and I really hope he doesn't make an unnecessary comeback and rests on his laurels.

The greatest boxer of the generation, as close to unbeatable as we have seen since a prime Roy Jones Jnr IMO.

Most of the arrogance is just to sell fights, he always comes across as a decent person in the post fight interviews and very complimentary.

it wont be a ploy - he wants to keep his legacy

tell stories of how he was undefeated reinging champion

and has never been beaten

i think the fact of him beaing unbeaten is worth a lot more personally than to him financially

i know it would be worth more than money to me

bragging rights, etc

he was undoubtedly a great boxer and showed how far ahead he was when he fought the undefeated hatton abd showed him how to box - totally different class

plus he made like 10 million from wwe for doing some acting for 15 mins - that must have been his retirement fund

Retires to duck cotto lol he's a cherry picker he hasn't faced a single top welterweight.
He even ducked margo who is fighting cotto next.
