Bonus Bagging gone Awry

I've just tried my hand at some bonus bagging over at Victor Chandler, and I was doing alright, was up a little a money, on the blackjack, and then suddenly the window goes black and tells me to reload, so I do, and it seems I lost £4, I try to deal, and it happens again - reload - didn't lose any money - but then on deal, it goes back to that screen.

I was using Firefox, and then tried IE, but it wouldn't let me sign in, so after the third email I fired off (in a panic) - I recieve an email which I'm not sure is dodgy or not as I've never done this sort of thing:

Dear Customer,

During our standard security checks, we were unable to verify the details against the card registered on your account, therefore requiring us to temporarily suspend your account.

As it is company policy to protect our customers against Internet fraud, we request that you assist us in the verification of your details by forwarding the following documentation:

1) A clear copy of your Passport/ I.D. card (both sides).

2) A clear copy of all the credit cards used on the account (both sides). Please make sure the back of the card/s are signed.

3) A clear copy of a recent bank statement showing your address. Please make sure to block out any non relevant information (i.e. financial details).

Our e-mail address is: [email protected]

and our fax number for non UK residents is: (00 44) 870 432 1102 .

and for UK residents: 0870 432 1102

Please remember to include your Victor Chandler account number for ease of reference.

Please also note: In the interest of security please ensure you block out the middle 8 digits. We only require knowing the first and last 4 digits of the card number. Please also make sure to block out the last three digits of the card security code appearing at the back of the card.

You can be assured that all information/documentation received will be held in the strictest of confidence.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

It just seems weird that they want everything - I don't want to fire off my my debit card details, address and passport, it just sounds rather dodgy to me.

Any ideas? :(

Sounds like they're being well OTT with security... go gamble somewhere else I say. Unless this is standard for gambling sites - I've not done it before

I would but I dropped £100 here, and I really don't want to lose it, £10 I would say fair enough but...

I had to email similar documents once and I'm pretty sure it was victor chandler - will have a dig around my inbox to see if I got the same email.

*EDIT* Yep got the exact same email and I just sent them what they wanted but just make sure you block out the middle 8 digits and the 3 digits security code on the signature strip as advised. My bonus was paid the next day.

Currently trying to do the Ladbrokes bonus and it's asking for the same documents before I can make a deposit - it's very common practice.

I've had this happen to me a few times on Coral, fortunately the money seems to come back after a reload or two.

Unlucky mate, literally the bookie always wins. :(

regular gambling requires all this to open an account; it's supposedly to try to stop money laundering etc.

Scan the stuff in and send it off (once you've checked them out).

they make you send a copy of passport or ID before you can withdraw any winnings anyway :(

atleast i think it was them who did that to me

Hmm, well the e-mail is from @vcint.com which is what they seem to use. And on proper-non-as-panicky-reading, it seems that they want me to block out the majority of the card. I have statements about address and my passport (I'd assume that's the photopart, both sides?)

Guess I'll head to uni to make some copies (don't have a photocopier).

Oh well, lol.
