2K tricked into confirming GTAIV on PC?

We'll warn you to take this with a pinch of salt right now as Rockstar won't comment on it at all. But it wouldn't surprise us at all to see the game coming to PC, it's been heavily rumoured already, but to get the news out of a customer support team? That's just silly...

The story goes that a couple of guys emailed the support team saying they were having problems with their surround sound while they were playing the PC version. "The first person driving view is simply amazing and the Nico Bellic character really makes me feel like I'm living the storyline. So much so that I feel bad in finding something to complain about, that being the surround sound. At times the back left speaker cuts out, specially when characters like little Jacob are speaking. Also when I call 911, the automated response starts, but cuts out when I am given emergency options."

Had us convinced right there, but it doesn't take much.

After a few responses they received the reply: "The PC version of GTA IV has not even been announced for release and is still in development so is not about to be released on a website we have no knowledge of."

When pressed further on a release, the 'pranksters' were told: "We are unsure when the PC version of the game will be released as we are only technical support and do not receive information on the matter. I would suggest keeping an eye on www.rockstargames.com for any information." Opps...

I'm not too sure what to think of it, but all I can say is if they don't release IV for PC I'll be ****** :p. I don't want to get a console just for 1 damn game :(.
 
This doesn't really change much - GTA4 was always going to come out for the PC anyway, even if you thought it wouldn't.

Rumors and tricks and all sorts aside, this is completely true. GTA4 will come to PC as there is clearly a demand for it. Such a demand that even a years wait or a bad console port would still sell like hot cakes.

GTA4 will be on PC. We just dont know when, who will develop the port, or how good it will be yet, but it will come.

You'd be a fool if you thought otherwise.

I remember when GTA III came out, they played the whole "Exclusive to consoles, it'll never come out on PC" card back then as well... heck I'm pretty sure they've done it with SA and VC too.

It's coming out, it's just when it's coming out is the question, not if.
 
I seriously don't understand the fuss with this game. I have it sitting downstairs for the 360 and it has been sitting, unfinished now for nearly 2 months. I think I have nearly finished it as well but it is just so boring. It really is the worst of the series so far!
 
there's no point getting a console to play it, the slowdown stinks, i've seen it on both 360 and ps3

25-35 fps is barely slow imo, more than playable, but it's a shame indeed that it runs so poor...

then ignore it, imo gta:sa is the best game ever made and after seeing vids of IV and seeing it in action @ mates I'm pretty sure IV is awesome too.

looks stupid when it slows down (explosions etc), and sometimes when you're driving walls etc suddenly appear (draw distances are bad)

shocking they released it in that state, i don't own a ps3 or 360, but i've borrowed both for a week, with GTA4 on both
 
I can live with 25 - 35 fps as long as it is consistent which unfortunately it isn't with the console versions (PS3 version here).
I didn't get very far at all before i gave up with it, it was just too jerky for me with too much blur.

I will definitely be getting it on the PC though as all the series has run like butter for me and has just been leaps and bounds ahead of any console versions.
 
That doesn't confirm anything at all.. the tech support person has kept it as vague as possible to cover their own arse. They didn't confirm, nor deny, that the game will be released on PC.

doesn't mean 'it is being made' though, a random member of the support team could write anything

i'm hoping for a march 09 release :)
 
What are peeps thoughts on whether they could get this out sooner rather than later on the PC? How difficult is it to convert a game from an XB360? Surely easier than the PS2 conversion in the previous gen.
