Hey all,

I'm after a little advice.

I live down a cul-de-sac in a mid-terraced house, I own the land from the back of my garden all the way through the house, out the front and out about another 25 feet. This gives me two parking spaces, one directly outside the house and another behind that.

The girlfriend and I have one car so it's quite handy having the two spaces for when we get visitors and the like. Unfortunately we have a neighbour that seems to be some sort of del-boy and collects cars, which are always being parked in my second bay as he has more than 3 cars outside his house at one time. I then have to ask him to move the car when I get visitors which is a pain in the behind on it's own and he then feels like it's my fault and gives me the odd swear word in his sentences.. :/

Do you think I should just get a "No Parking" sign and stick it up, and if so would your usual DIY shop sell them or should I contact the council and see what they say.

I'm not trying to come across as a busy-boddy but he has some serious attitude and I don't want him parking on my land..!

Cheers.

"no parking please, 24 hour access required" would be suitable

have you tried google?

I did, but there are a lot of private companies and I was wondering if anyone had picked one up from the local town center :)

Would "No Parking" be too abrupt then?

He sounds like a complete knob to me, I'm sure that he'd get arsey whatever you put, but I think the one I suggested is probably going to cause him to get less annoyed, because, as you said, it's less abrupt.

is he actually parking on your land? Or is it on the road infront of your house, which you "own" as in you are responsible for maintaining, but people can drive over it etc?

Seeing as you know who it is, just tell him not to park cars there. If you didn't know, a sign would be ok.

Clamping is a bad idea, because there are lots of regulations about having permits to clamp and signs and stuff.

get a couple of those poles that you can stick in the ground to stop access to the space.

if he is parking on a public road, and the kerb is raised, he is legally entitled to park there!

Sorry

I own the land he is parking on, it's like a long rectangle which has the garden at the back, then the house, then the front lawn, a through path (which we don't own), then our first space, then a through road for people to access the spaces (again, we don't own this either) and finally another space which is my land.

Amazing Paint pic attached, behold :)
