Hi,
Can anyone please confirm the package contents of the Sapphire 4850. The reviews I have read show that the card is supplied with PowerDVD and 3DMark 2006 (full) and some games. I have seen a retail box in a shop today and it was smaller than the review box and only contained the driver CD.

It's the same thing with Sapphire's 4870, a totally outrageous con. Reviews show it coming with Power DVD, DVD Suite, the Ruby Rom, 3DMark06 and a 2GB USB Flash drive.

I bought a retail packaged 4870 and got... the driver CD.

This is all I got in my Sapphire 4870 box, i'd assume the 4850 is the same.

Driver Disk
6 pin - Molex Adapter
DVI to VGA Adapter
DVI to HDMI Adapter
CrossFire Bridge connector
S-Video to Composite Adapter
S video- HDTV cable

Ok, thanks for the replies. I thought the box that I saw today might have been the 'lite' version as I have seen one retailer advertising the 4850 with the additional software.

you don't even get the 6 pin - Molex Adapter on the PowerColor cards - they were the cheapest by a bit however.....certainly more than the cable is worth :)

I must admit I was a bit gutted not to get a 2GB Sapphire USB drive! :(

I sorta knew that when i unwrapped the box and saw the Retail-Lite label.

I wonder if we ask nicely maybe Gibbo can pull a few strings! :)

retail [lite] packaged 4870
I bought a retail packaged Sapphire 4870 and expected to get what was being reviewed by various sites. There's no mention of a 'lite' package from the dealer I bought from or on Sapphire's 4870 product pages.

Far as I'm concerned this is a basic case of bait-and-switch. Oh, well. None of the missing stuff is worth sending the card back over but I won't buy any Sapphire cards in future.

Thats why i only buy 100quid+ hardware from a place i can open the box and see what im buying before i walk out. Ive had this kind of thing happen all too often.

Who really cares, slap the card in, download and install the latest drivers, its all ive ever done, cables CD's etc... i really couldnt give a toss about tbh. :p

Its more just being annoyed at the feeling you are being conned. In this case i suspect the actual contents were in fact printed in the side and that anyone who bought one either got it delivered and assumed it had all the stuff from the review, or they didnt read the contents in the shop.

Im just saying its a little bugbear of mine that i always seem to get shafted by special edition boxes, and other things. As long as the retailer makes clear whats in the box then thats fair enough, but sometimes they dont and it can be annoying.

That's it AtreuS, get it off your chest! :D

When you done maybe you would care to load up some games and enjoy your new pocket rocket!

Don't worry I will find out what's going on with the missing stuff, but now its the weekend and time to chill!
