Diablo 2 worth a play?

Dont think I ever played it online, need to give it a bash sometime, currently playing through single player to get up to speed with the game.

I think that's not true since, on the Euro ladder at least, the floods are already starting of unidentified annis, highrunes, 1.10 runewords and all the other stuff which should be amazingly rare.
 
Yeah, but i'd put more than a penny down that it's due to Bots. Leveling a D2 character to 80 will take a day, 2 at most, if you do it without stopping with friends. Use a bot with 3 or 4 versions of D2 running, 4 characters each, 2 people, running Bhaal, Pindle and Meph runs 24/7 for 3 or 4 days and you're going to be racking up the MF for runes. After that it's just a case of doing Ubers, and considering level 80 feral druids and 1pt Smite paladins can solo them, it wont take long to pull it turd loads of stuff really early using 8 chars ;)

Botting is all over the place in D2, and the endgame isn't difficult anyways. Maphacks and bots are easily found.
 
Don't get me wrong, I know just how much botting goes on, but, finding runes is something different. There's simply no way that enough legitimate ber/vex/ohm/cham/sur/jah runes and the like are being found to fuel the production of all the favoured 1.10 runewords.

I've only ever heard of one person making the effort to cube guls found from hellforge all the way up to being able to make the infinity runeword, and that involved a ridiculous number of runs. So the rest are seemingly relying on lucky drops (with MF not being a factor since it doesn't affect rune drops) from the countess, those bugged chests in lower kurast or during more traditional mf runs, and I don't believe that these can account for all that's being traded.
 
Fair enough. I'm not saying you're wrong, you understand, i just personally havent seen duping in work for a long time.
 
Duping is still rife in 1.12a, in closed BNet/Ladder, I've only been playing a week since the last time I played earlier this year and have come across it a few times.

Yea duping is still very much about. Traded for 3 high runes yesterday and two of them disappeared after a few games.

I may have broken the old jewel case and thrown it away without thinking :(

It's annoying as I managed to find the manual, box, and both CD cases with all 3 CDs (all scattered around my room in different places) but still no key :o
 
Bah, Europe just went down just after I dropped items on floor to transfer to another character, had a really nice bow for my ama too :(
 
They haven't stopped the duping, and never will. They do however delete a lot of them (mainly after passing to an unsuspecting person)

We really need to start doing OcUK Cow runs, getting people up to reasonable levels (Most classes start getting their identity at level 35).

My Ama is level 30 now, I'd be up for running through a few Cow Runs once I hit about 40 and I have worthy Items and more than 1 in Lightening Fury :D.
