Just wanted to know or ask anyone that knows a lot about 8800GTXs

i was playing about with the card trying to get my highest clocks and this is what i ended up with

could someone tell me if these are good 8800GTX clocks on AIR cooling.

Core : 650mhz
Shader : 1620mhz
Memory : 1080mhz

i was looking about and the fastest refrence ultra have lower clocks than what i have :o
do i have a great clocking 8800GTX or are these the avarages for everyone with this card when they overclock it..

temps are resonable, or are they..

Temps useing EVEREST.

Overclocked desktop temps
GPU : 37c
GPU Diode : 47c
GPU Ambiant : 35c

------------------------

Load under Crysis for 1 hour.
rivatuner seems to only record my cards GPU Diode temps lol
but the highest i seen it go in crysis was 61c

------------------------

This accelero A1 cooler is fantastic.

Good clocks those, I reckon you could up the shaders another 20-30 maybe

I can't hit your memory clock even if I run stock core and shaders, but am running stock cooler, think it hits early-mid 70's temps when running overclocks for an hour in COD4

If there is any game out there, COD 4 is a game that really works your shaders, so if those are to high you will soon know about it, and you will notice it totaly when lay prone in the grass...

though i will give your shader advise a test and see how high i can push those untill artifacts happen ;P

question though where do i get the latest version of that bios flasher nvbit or sommit lol
so i can edit the bios on my card to the super clocks i have that way i dont need to use overclocking programs :D i did have a bios already flashed with 600/default/950 clocks but i see now that i added that awsome cooler i can get much higher now :D

660/1670/2080
Find the max for you Shader first, then the core and finaly the mem.

as you can see, modded bios and flashed
i wouldnt be able to select 660 as it would default to 649 and 1670 would default to 1634 and 2080 is impossible lol you would have to be on ice to get that from a vannilah 8800GTX unless you where meaning 1080 ;)

what im going to do next is see how higher i can get the shader and also modify the fan speed so that the default fan speed is 70 instead of 60rpms.

that way idle temps are even lower and that fan speed doesnt kick off around 70c but the weird thing is my card under its current air cooling never goes over 61c in crysis ;) so im pritty safe to up the fanspeed and not have to worry about it ever hitting 70c for the fan to go even higher, and even if it does then the fan will ramp up aswell.

im getting some great speeds here under the current clocks ;)

that temp reading from that program the top GPU temp is Diode temps but we never go for diode temps on graphics cards, so 37c will do me just fine under idle, and when i ramp that fan up 10% its going to be even sweeter ;D

Its DDR so 2080 is 1040

If you are playing at below 1920x1200 then you CPU may be the bottle neck therefore the GPU isnt being pushed as much, dont have the game so am only speculating on that.

Those temps look dodgy, my GTX is on water and it idles at 40C although never goes above 50Cat load.
At stock speed and with a stock cooler these cards normally idle at around 70C

Im useing stress testing programs for GPUs and trust me 61c is the max im seeing,
and also my idle 37c temps are correct aswell,,

verified with EVEREST aswell as GPU-Z and also Rivatuner.

i use this cooler on my 8800GTX

i also have 2 120MM fans at the bottom of my stacker and also a powerfull 120MM blowing at the card from the side of my case aswell...

my temps arent dodgy ;)

and as for my cpu bottle necking the card, i dont think my 8x450Fsb 3.6ghz quad is bottle necking the card.

Personally I'd rather use Rivatuner for clocks and just use profiles from the task bar, also I always always run fan at 100% when I'm gaming, again a task bar profile using Rivatuner

Well thats told me then , why even bother posting, you obviously know you have a fast card with very low temps (although it might sound like a WW2 bomber during take off).
Well done, take an A+

OP
You say [email protected], whats your memory type, ammount, speed and timings just out of interest ? Have you tried upto [email protected] ?

OCZ FleX II 9600 2x2 @ 5.5.4.15 @2.1v @1200mhz @ performance level 6 and Ai Twister :Strongest.
cant really bump the fsb up anymore without going over 1200mhz my memory is speed binned to 1200mhz lol the slightest 1mhz over 1200 and i get 1 million memtest errors ;P

though i could drop the devidor and up the fsb :D
though i have a pritty ok quad 6600 but at 3.6 it takes 1.45v any higher and i have to go up to 1.5v and the temps do skyrocket, my next mission is watercooling my cpu :D

i have been told by numerous people that my rampage formula is cappable of 500+fsb with a quad so when i do get watercooler the fun will begin.

Well thankyou for your reply *Mr Sarcastic Joe*
and for your information mr sarcastic my card doesnt sound like a WW2 bomber, have you used this cooler *i have* before becuse suprizingly its quiet...
