Is this a good price? Work has one they don't need and after doing some sums that's all they want for it, it's to be used in a media center that lives in a cupboard so is speed step supported?
 
Go for it, ideal CPU for a media box especially at that price. The 800fsb means that it'll drop to 1GHz (5x multi) when idle and use very little power.
 
I already have a case and hard drives I can use, I require FireWire on the motherboard for the satellite card, how does this look?

Think I'm decided on the Gigabyte GA-G31MF-S2 iG31 Socket 775 mATX Motherboard as it has everything I need for about £38.
