But it's always day somewhere, and it's always night somewhere ;O.

I hate how I have been dragged into this!! :(

but how do you know?

Sorry, I will stop being sarcastic now. Moses99p, you are correct there are too many holes to pick in this before it even begins to make rational sense.

Why are so many people falling for this? :/

Sadly, it is actually true - much like the Christian Fundamentalist sites that take OT scripture at face value, or believe evolution to be a hoax. The FES is an actual organisation - not all of them believe the earth to be flat (they have an "open mind" to all unorthodox scientific theories) but there are many there who do.

It'd be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

Thanks for taking the time to go through this FAQ. It was created in light of the realization that for someone with a "round-Earth" (RE) background, the FE theory would appear at first glance to have some glaring holes.

Awesome!

:D

Using the "round Earth" theory, setting an object on the earth would be like setting grains of sand on a beach ball. Certainly a few grains would stay - right around the top, the surface is nearly horizontal - but when you stray too far from the absolute top of the ball, the grains of sand start sliding off and falling onto the ground. The Earth, if round, should behave in exactly the same fashion. Because the top is a very localized region on a sphere, if the Earth were in fact round, there would be only a very small area of land that would be at all inhabitable. Stray to the outside fringes of the "safe zone", and you start walking at a tilt. The further out you go, the more you slant, until your very survival is determined by the tread on your boots. Reach a certain point, and you slide off the face of the planet entirely.

that one gets ten out of ten for absurdity...

They're worried they'll get taken out by the governaments protecting the conspiracy.
That's correct. Ordinary people aren't allowed anywhere near the wall. They have the wall under constant surveillance by military personnel.

Why exactly does the government want to keep it secret, how does one profit from people believing the earth to be flat?
The governments aren't keeping anything a secret, they are simply protecting citizens from killing themselves by climbing over the wall.

(also do they explain why you can't send a laser, or radio signal across the earth (at an altitude obviously) as it should be possible for a flat earth.
Air, haze, rain, etc. All these will degrade any laser or radio signal over a distance.

Okay, so if the Sun and Moon rotate as demonstrated in the above picture, then how is the Moon visible when the Sun is not? Isn't it the case we can see the Moon because light from the Sun reflects off it? But if we can see the Moon because light from the Sun reflects off it, and the above picture is correct, then we'd have to be able to see light from the Sun at any time we could see the Moon...
The Sun and the Moon do not follow their paths at the same speed. They can catch up to eachother once in awhile, or be far away.

It only makes sense.

Lol guess they've never heard of mavity and the fact the Earth is on a rotational-axis? :p

This is funny and sad in a way I guess. But like already stated, you can see the curviture of the Earth when looking out of a plane window, etc, etc. Maybes the Earth is flat with a slight bobble in the middle. lol. :D

How can they believe that there is a 50m wall of ice all the way round this flat earth, that no one has ever seen?

I give you The Truman Show :D;)
