250watt PSU what gfx card?

this is a single hd, athalon 5000 system (asus barebones system)

Some forums people are saying something like a 8600gt needs 300watt.

Does anyone know if I can resonable safely stick one of those cards onto a 250watt psu (its only some times used for gaming - 95% of the time its jsut internet)

If 250 cannot run the 8600 any suggestion on the best option?

Some, barebone or SFF PSU are quite powerful. Possible to check the +12V rail ratings/spec...

Agreed. For some reason they appear to be underrated to the performance they offer. If not however then the HD 3650 should be fine.

an 8600GT wiill work fine in an asus barebones system, I even got an 8800GTs512MB to work fine aswell... so the 8600 series is ok.

The 8800's should be fine as longs as you go for a 512MB card.

The earlier 320/640MB cards use a lot more power.
