Camera manufacturers do seem to come up with the most convoluted and ridiculous ad campaigns sometimes! I think they need to reign the marketing people in a bit...

It's just a camera for goodness sakes!

It always puzzles me that marketing is such a big thing with cameras, it kind of makes me feel that they're worried we might realise these things are overpriced if they don't hype things up.

Why don't they just ruddy launch the thing, and be done with it?! :)

EDIT: In my slight rage, I forgot to say that the specs, if correct, look nice. Will depend on where they price it really I guess? Is it up against the D700?

I guess people have been waiting so long for the 5dII that Canon is just building on their excitement and keeping any potential buyers from switching to Nikon

Interesting if it turns out to be 21MP, it wouldn't surprise me if a few lenses in the Canon line up are found wanting at this resolution

i don't believe those specs, I can't imagain they would bother using a new 3.2" screen when they could just use the 3" VGA one from the 50D. They definantly won't have a movie mode IMO.

Also unless this is a 3D rather than a 5D II it won't have weather sealing and I wouldn't expect a 21M sensor. Hopefully a 16M sensor for 5D II.

yeah I doubt it will be a 3.2" screen or have the movie mode although I do think that now Nikon has it Canon will put it in future models

no idea about the sensor, from what I have read a lot of people think its quite feasible for it to be 21mp

weather sealing, again possible - the 5d is a pro-sumer model and its a feature that a lot of customers want to see

It wont be long before we all find out but the talk about it is exciting for people like me who have a 5d and are looking to upgrade :)

probably more like it.
The specs look very fake. If they were to put a movie mode in any camera it would be the 50D.

those specs are all rumour and speculation, so at the moment they are all fake as no one knows what the official specs are :)

Yeh i reckon the 500D will be the first Canon with a movie mode if at all. Canons compacts have never been that hot on Video compared with the competition. Still don't offer 720P in the recent anouncements whereas a lot of the competion have done for a while. Maybe Canon don't want to spoil there video camera business?

I've got some new specs too:

- 4000000000000MP sensor
- 234FPS
- ISO 1280000000000 with equiv noise of ISO 100
- Coffe Maker
- 5 Instant Print Buttons (1 just isn't enough)
- Free reach around when you get 'the shot'

It's all just blind speculation at the minute and I don't think anyone is any closer to knowing the spec than they were 12 months ago.

I still believe that there are going to be 2 new FF bodies, maybe not both at photokina but certainly in the enxt 6 months, a 6/7/5DII and a 3D.

The only two things that we can be certain of are that they're going to be full frame and they are going to have more than 12MP.

I wouldn't be sure they are both more than 12MP. I have a hunch they will try to make a low-noise FF sensor with High-speed.

Well they've already done the 12MP FF low noise thing with the original 5D and that was 3 years ago now. Digic 3 and 4 are a massive improvement in the speed department along with sensor improvements. The technology is there for a low noise, >12MP, 8FPS, full frame camera.

Well, not low noise compared to the D700! IF they want to have comparable noise performance then they will need to keep to around the 12MP mark.

I doubt anyone serious wants or needs more than 12Mp anyway.
