Hi there,

can anyone tell me how the replacement process works with the Hiper warranty.

My type-r 580w has packed up, there is power at the red light at the back but nothing happens when trying to power up the pc. There is power to the motherboard though, I tried with another pc and same thing, also trying an older psu in my current machine starts it up fine. My hiper has been unstable for a few months so I guess it's time for it to go.

I am about 2 and a half years into the 3 year warranty and I assume I return it to hiper and not my place of purchase.

Can anyone tell me how fast this process is and how it works, do they send a new one and collect the old at the same time or what, and how many working days does it take from day of application?

I need a new PSU quick because the older psu I have does not have enough power to power my gaming pc and I need it this weekend really.

If the replacement system is not next day (unlikely) I might be tempted to buy a corsair psu and just sell the hiper replacement when I get it. I want a quiet and reliable psu like hiper has been (most of the time). I've been so used to how quiet the hiper is I hope the corsair is the same, if someone can recommend something else go ahead.

thanks.

last time i did got it to them by the monday and was back to mine by the thursday, i remember thinking it was quite quick, i did contact there technical guy direct though!

3 days on mine iirc

They dont collect, you have to post at your own expense (was only £6 or so) but they sent me a brand new retail unit.

The Coolermaster Silent in last months Custom PC looked very nice, not been able to find it anywhere yet tho. The Dark Power Pros also look good to me.

Im tempted to stick with Hiper tho due to UK rma centre, I saw Corsair is in the netherlands, Im not willing to pay that much for post so will be avoiding those PSUs

I had to RMA my Type R 580W which I had to send to their Milton Kenes headquaters. Mine took an extraordinary long amount of time as they said that it had been misplaced but as a sign of goodwill they sent me a brand new retail unit of the same model.

I had the recorded delivery slip as proof anyway which would prove that I sent it to them.

i had trouble with mine was out of rma time

the nuts on the cable sockets had come loose and the mobo 4pin header was shorting inside the psu so dumped it and got a corsair

Had to send a 580w Hiper to Milton Keynes i think (strange buzzing noise) took about 3 days till i got new one.

Found them really helpfull, they even sent me a load of goodies! (Caps, stickers, bags, clocks etc)

They should be good at this by now. They have had enough practice after all.

Do yourself a favour and buy yourself a brand new decent quality psu, then when the Hiper comes back stick it on the bay.

Just an update, I sent the psu back in late august, it took about 10 days from the date they got it until I got a replacement.

It came in a small white box that says hiper reconditioned power supply unit on it so I assume this means it is a faulty one they have repaired from the factory or something, it was all sealed inside though and looked clean/new. It came with some case screws and a new manual with updated recommendations on cable setup in the manual compared to my old one.

I already had tool box/cables from the old one.

I'm already hearing a high pitch sound sometimes from it, usually after playing a game for a long time. I guess it is having trouble supporting my system (in sig). Cables are all set up correctly. Not sure how long it will last, I blame my gtx lol

Like i told you before, do yourself a favour and get a decent power supply. I certainly would'nt have stuck that in my pc. Get it out before it fails and possibly takes some of your components with it.

I have this PSU (brought for my first build when I didn't know better) and it has been fine for me. I have even shorted light cables, USBs etc inside my PC and had it shut off and still work. Mine has been fine and I would say it has been tested and not just used a little and not stressed. Am I just lucky, or are you lot unlucky because while they may not be Corsair quality mine has held out well.
