Evo Triangle Tomorrow?

Overrated in the sense that it's not worth a 2-3 hour drive, a few laps and then home again - I agree. There is a decent Karting track near by though :p

I've heard its really overrated.
ive done it before and enjoyed it but i certainly wouldnt drive from the other end of the country like some people have done. Only an hour for me to get there. :-)

I'll be putting my engine back into the 5 tomorrow, so unlikely I will be able to make it!

It's an absolute blast early morning and late at night. Weekends obviously tend to be slower. It's not just EVO who bother to make the journey, Autocar and Car come up here for this and numerous car clubs...for a reason. But there are far better routes to take around here, including some on the way to the Triangle. I live 15 minutes away from the real Triangle, but if I were travelling more than 20 minutes to hit some really fast and challenging NW roads, I would take a different route...a fair bit longer loop but much, much better in my opinion.

Take care and enjoy, always better to sight it first and watch the sheep on the moors and the bottom road mobile cameras. Plenty of good places for some nice pictures and if you read EVO, you'll recognise a few prime spots. It's a matter of preferance of course, but CCW is pretty good.

It's an absolute blast early morning and late at night.

Done it a few times early in the morning, about 5-6am in the Summer and it's fantastic, much better than the weekend when a lot of fair-weather riders are out, as well as the normal traffic.

I'm about ~20mins away too, near the coast ;)

Went on my own in the end, got up and it was raining here in the morning, but approached Wales and the weather improved.

The A5104 which takes you to the A5 was a decent road to start with.

Got on the A5 and saw the only scamera of the day, parked at the bottom of a hill ready to get people when they came around a bend on probably the safest section of road i drove on all day! Well hidden from view.

Did four laps, two in each direction, started off anti-clockwise as ive been around it that way before.

Nearly got caught out right near the start, in the bendy bumpy slightly downhill section, came over a right handed crest, was slightly damp and had the back end start to come out. Bit of a heart in mouth moment but recovered it, bit of over confidence, but i wasnt going particularly quickly at the time either ~45mph ish as i knew those few corners could be nasty.

Stopped and had a chill out, gather my thoughts a bit, took a few photos then carried on round.

Saw a Porsche 944 (i think!) with an E46 M3 and another newer Porsche following, going the opposite way to me didnt get the model as was paying more attention to what was going on infront of me.

Overtook a red EP3 CTR which wasnt going particularly quickly then was nearly at the end of that stretch.

Got on the A5 and took it easy, just used this to give the car a bit of a break and chill out. Had been quite a big accident up the road, VW Polo hit a tractor and overturned it so had to stop for that anyway.

Next couple of laps i saw the Porsche/M3/Porsche again, then a gaggle of motorbikers, and an MR2.

Had a stupid ruddy sheep run out infront of me, slowed right down for them, two ran across, set off and another decides it wants to die and runs infront of me then suddenly changes its mind at the last minute.

Apart from that was all good, kept the car in third and fourth most of the time just to keep the speed up and use the torque of the car, wasnt absolutely caning it around as its not really sensible!

Anyway, pictures!

Cant really see it but it was getting quite cloudy/foggy in some higher areas and lots of mist on the windscreen.

And an instantly recognisable one for anyone whose driven round it.
