E-pee and cars

The solution is to buy a faster car so that these people don't even attempt to challenge your road superiority :p

What's E-pee?

If you are talking about e-peen then it's not really e-peen as I doubt they were racing you on the internet.

One thing that really annoys me is when you're in lane 3 behind another car which is doing about 75mph. It slowly overtakes the car in the middle lane which is doing about 70mph. When it passes the car in the middle lane and moves left into the middle lane, it accelerates up to 90mph. WTF? I have noticed drivers doing this a lot since I got the Z4. I just cannot understand it.

Nothing that dropping a few cogs and bombing it past them can't sort out though :p

Going back to my point speeding with the risk of getting pulled because of some idiot who does not like being overtaken.

At a push possibly.

I spent 60 miles in one of these coming back from Leeds with my cousin. It was awful and the noise of the engine at anything above 70 is just intolerable.

Yea, they sit around 4k revs at 70mph. Have to turn the radio up in mine :o

The previous owner put some louder exhaust on which doesn't help

I have noticed a big difference between motorway driving in the Alfa from in the old Uno. Even though my speed hasn't changed.

I get bullied a lot less in the "fast" lane. And if I do I have a lot more power to get rid of the idiot.

Worst I've seen is from the Punto days; someone who would slow down to overtake, leaving me waiting behind him, then pull into the 2nd lane and accelerate again. He was holding me up on average, but I couldn't accelerate fast enough to pass him when he wasn't overtaking. I could almost do it, and then he would cut me up just to slow down and overtake the next car. About 3 times this happened before I got board and ragged it in 4th to get past. Then I returned to 80mph and slowly moved away from him.

I have a similar problem when I travel from Hertfordshire to Nottingham (M1) in my girlfriends 04 Punto. Some people seem to get way too annoyed that a small city car is over-taking them in the outside lane.

It's not a new thing - I've been seeing it for twenty years. The only theory I can come up with is: they're scared to be in the right-hand lane. If you watch for longer you'll see that actually they slow down when they pull out to overtake, then speed up as soon as they're back in their comfort lane.

As for the people who speed up as soon as you overtake them, I assume it's the obvious: they think speed=how good your car is. Thus any attempt to overtake them in a car they perceive as "inferior" will result in them stepping on the gas to show the interloper that actually they (the overtaken) are as good as the overtaker.

The broader explanation is of course that the roads are full of -ing idiots. I've taken to flooring it past everyone I overtake to try to stop both types of behaviour. Plus those who think being overtaken is an invitation to a race.

The only time I've had to go back into the middle lane from the outside lane whilst attempting an overtake was because of a red ford ka with chrome exhaust, the woman failed to pull in doing 70~ on the outside lane for several miles. Both inner lanes were occupied so I didn't pull in until there was a gap.

Only the Ka was in the outside lane in front of me with no cars in front of her in either the middle or outside lane because we were going same speed as the other 2 lanes. Why she didn't go a bit faster and pull in I a mystery.

I was convoying with someone too and they ended up being a few minutes ahead because of this!

Its because your prescence on the outside of them has awoken them from their centre lane snooze and made them realise they need to either get out of the centre lane and look foolish, or speed up to avoid you overtaking them and show that they have a purpose in the centre lane.

Should have given the bint the full beam BMW treatment :p;)

I don't do that kind of thing!

I just give really evil looks if it needs to be done ¬_¬
